PD 9 Won't Restart
[Post New]
No thanks...I have seen the sample clips many times. I was trying to determine how to duplicate your events. I thought you were trying to USE the program, not crash it.

I open PD9 and go to create disc and exit and the processes close.

I might suggest that you consider temporarily removing the "dubbing" application (if possible) to see if it is causing a conflict:
I do wonder about the multiple entries in your DXDIAG for the "dubbing" software from RapidSolution Software. I am not familiar with possible issues related to this software...just a comment:
Description: Tunebite High-Speed Dubbing (25) (Tunebite High-Speed Dubbing)
Driver Name: tbhsd.sys
Driver Version: 6.00.1500.0000 (English)
Driver Attributes: Final Retail
WHQL Logo'd: n/a
Driver Provider: RapidSolution Software

I am afraid you will have to wait for another editor..I have made all the suggestions I can.

I did have an external USB Blu-ray burner attached. I disconnected it, but it made no difference. I also have a printer and my external monitor (HDMI). Should they be a problem?

I think (guess) that the "tunebite" might be short circuiting the audio driver that PD uses. Printers and monitors usually do not block a program, but background processes which "grab" key system components (like audio drivers) can stop or freeze startups.

Try a clean boot, with only basic MS services running
(google "clean boot") will show how and see if PD behaves OK.

There seems to be something seriously messed up in the create disc portion of program. When you reinstalled PD, did you download a fresh copy? It is possible with these large files to get an occassional bad copy.

I am running out of suggestions ... a fresh download, CLcleaner the registry (see the sticky threads at beginning of forum) and reload. Do it with as clean an install of windows if possible. I always "image" my system drive before major overhauls, so i can get back to where I was ... windows restore points do not always do that, but are better than nothing.

Wish I could do more ...

I finally found a culprit after an exhausting number of "clean boots". It appear that my fingerprint reader from Digital Persona
is interfering with PD. I am at a loss to why, but when I don't start or later turn off the process associated with Digital Persona it eliminates the problem. I have no clue how to fix this as I do use the fingerprint reader sometimes instead of a password to log on. Very strange. Any thoughts anyone?

glad you were able to at least ID the culpret.

I know the "clean boot" method is tedious at best, but it truely is an important tool to track down problems.

A guess would be that some portion of the video driver is getting locked by the fingerprint system, and they are not releasing a resource that PD "asks for". Once it logs you in, it should have killed all related processes... a word to the vendor might be in order, they might not realize they interfer with other programs.
