No sound...again! (PD 9)

I just downloaded 2 royalty free tracks (both mp3) from Amazon and then created a video. One of the tracks plays fine, but when I try to play the other one in a different video (new project), nothing happens. Let me clarify: the track plays in the preview window, but once I add it to the timeline, no sound at all.
I tried saving the file as .wma, mpg audio file, etc. and am not having any luck. Anyone care to venture a guess as to what is going on?

Thanks.

In the audio level room, is the volume of that track all the way down?

No, it's up to 50. I played the other amazon track at the same audio level and it plays fine.

I save all my audio as mp3 files. Check the file extension to make sure it's saved in a compatible format. If it's not an mp3 file you may want to convert it to that and try again. Saving the world, one goofy video and meme at a time.

Thanks for your answer Kevin. I just wanted to clarify that the original files I downloaded are mp3, so are you saying that I should re-save them?

I wish I could use MP3's, too many problems, so I suggest re-encode the MP3 as a WAV, see if that works. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Thanks Barry. I did try that as well. I ran into this problem before a couple of months back and saving as a .wav file did work, but for some reason, this mp3 file is not responsive this time around.
I'm using PowerDirector as I'm typing this and it's running a bit slow so i'm wondering if something else is going on with the program.

Cbidnick,
In that case,it could be something as simple as a corrupted file. You may want to re-download the file and try that version. Also check to make sure it's not been muted anywhere. When you look at the file in the time line there should be "blue peaks and valleys with a white line through the middle. If the white line is all the way to the bottom it is muted somewhere. If the blue is missing, there is no sound on that file.

Hoping this helps!

Will it play in other media players?
How about installing MEDIAINFO program? Then attach the results?

Hi @Kevin @Barry Thanks for your help, but I've decided to abandon any further solution because it's frustrating me way too much. I decided to use a SS track and that works, however, the track skips a lot when I play it on the video timeline.

For me SS tracks do that alot, or they wont play through, but there fine in the produced file.

Go to Smartsound and download the free version of SonicFire Pro, you can use it to export your SS track as a WAV and use that file instead.

@ Barry, the link is good. Thanks. I did get the updates and that seemed to stop the track from skipping.
