I made a topic with this once before but i didnt get any results.
I am trying to burn a 1 and a hlaf hour movie to a dvd. I was using a DVD-R in a DVDRW drive. I checked make a folder, and burn 1 copy. And at 99% of the authorizing process it said "Track Reservation not complete."

This is a screen that might be helpfull.

Does anyone know whats causing this?

what quality setting is your dvd set at HQ, smartfit or SP? (the size of file created depends on these settings)

what burn speed is the physical dvd disk rated for 4x, 8x etc?

what burner speed are you trying for (I doubt its the problem but many "E" errors are related to trying to burn to fast)

try just burn to folder with the DVD9 (ie double layer setting) that will let it create a bigger file, you can then use another burn software like Imgburn to shrink it to fit standard one layer DVD ... at least I personnally have had luck with that approach, when smart fit has problems) RTX 2060 SUPER 8GB GDDR6

I had it set to Smart Fit but I've also tried Long Play with out success. Where could i find the burn speed the disc is rated for?
I will try to lower the speed or just do the folder. But if i use Imgburn would it still have the menu i had from PD?
Thanks!

The rated DVD speed is usually on the container of disks, sometimes on the disk itself in very faint lettering on many brands (the complete no-names may not be marked assume 2x or 4x max for those)

when burn to folder, you get the full disk structure, the menus etc are inside the various vobs. you point imgburn to the folder (video) for some unkowable reason the audio folder just seems to be like the appendix, no one knows what it does.

the burn speed is in that window (looks like 6.0 in your posting) you can change it when that window is open. I do not beleive you can permanently change it in preferences, you have to do it each time.

As I mentioned, i have had some problems with smartfit, seems to work with most material, but every once in a while it doen't like some footage or special effect. You can try "producing" it first then just putting that on the time line and making your menues etc. RTX 2060 SUPER 8GB GDDR6

Hi ClancM,

By splitting the actual write to disc and render process you are alleviating your PC of a stress point.

Slowing the write speed of a disc allows the PC to have sufficient time to process both functions. Don't try and max your burn, slow it down.

To burn to folder and then create a data disc - just moving information to a disc is by far the bester option. CyberLink's Power2Go disc writing software would do that task.

*Rocket-Scientist*

Mine says 16x but that might not be what you mean.
I am burning a folder now on a LP setting, a burning speed of 8.0, and when its done i will try it with power2Go and imgburn.
Unfortunately i tried with a produced file but it still didn't work.

When i clikcked the down arrow to lower recording speed it only gave me an option of 6.

But i will now try to use Power2Go with the above mention settings.

Thanks!

what brand of dvd burner are you using, some brands need bios updates to "understand" the encoded infomation on the "blank" dvd as to capacity and speed. My reasonably new "lite-on" dual-layer/lightscribe model needed two updates to recognize the newer 16x speeds. the "standards" are constantly changing... can't wait to get to blueray! This might not be what you mean, but it says its a _NEC DVD+RW ND-3530A, clicking update in the properties box yeilds no results.

For what it's worth, there's a good few issues posted on google for this drive and similar errors:

www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters/nec-nd-3530a/1057

the lasest firmware for that model is 3.01

do a google search "NEC ND-3530A FIRMWARE" a number of sites will have instructions and links to both the updtae itself and tools to install update on your drive. They also should have a software tool to check what version your drive currently has.

NOTE: MS windows only looks at the device driver, not the firmware, so the "manage" section can not help much in this case. RTX 2060 SUPER 8GB GDDR6

If one uses “Burn to disc” and “Create a folder” simultaneously, PD9 uses a two step process in that it actually authors the folder structure and renders the video to the location specified, then, as a second step, writes to DVD. Based on perfmon, there is absolutely no DVD media burning activity during the first authoring stage, other than an initial DVD disc initialization. Conversely, the phase 2 burning stage has no rendering activity, CPU or GPU. After phase 1 the entire video folder structure is avaiable at the location specified.

However, if one just ticks “Burn to disc” without creating a folder, the encoding and buffered burning occur simultaneously.

THIS IS MY SOLUTION IT WORKED FOR ME!
I tried everything on here!

I had been able to successfully burn home made videos on to a DVD for a long time with Power Director 11. But one day I got the message (1) Track Reservation Not Complete. I re-installed the program and when I tried messing with the setting all over the place I decided to install the latest version Power Director 13 as a trial version for like 14 days i think. Same problem. I spent HOURS trying to figure this out.

The SOLUTION:
It came down to the DVD I was using. You see I had always used the brand memorex DVD+R 4.7 GB and I had just happened to buy that week the Sony DVD-R 4.7 GB 10 pack. I went back to the memorex DVD+R and all was well!

I recommend putting your Recording speed at the lowest possible. For me this was 2.4X on my laptop i7 intel 8-core. I also have 8.0X but this gave me errors sometimes. Also don't worry about making a folder. I never have made any and they just take up space. They should NOT interfere but if you still have problems i guess make one.

So try this and let me know if this worked for you!

I think this is so silly that the problem was the DVD and not the software. Weird. Idk how that happened but try this. It worked for me!
