Is there an attorney in the house? Official answer please
[Post New]
May I have an interpretation/translation of your license/novel

I have not installed PD9 yet.

I'm thinking of installing PD9 on my current (old) laptop, however if the performance is inadequate I will fork out the bucks to buy a (new) laptop and install it there instead.

The Question:
If I install on "old" will I be prevented from installing on "new"

In this forum I've seen conflicting answers to this:
one machine at a time VS. one installation

BTW, for those of you who would reply by asking me the obvious, if I'm aware of the trial software, I ask you, are you aware it cannot be patched to the current rev? In other words, the commercial CD is essentially BETA.

You are entitled to install the program on any computer, in accordance with the licence terms you can only install on ONE computer at a time, therefore if you remove from one machine you can install on another, Just remember that there is a limit on the number of activations, unfortunately CyberLink do not say what that limit is.

Thanks Robert.

From what you say I assume each install phones home via internet,
and occasionally someone in the forum reports exceeding the activations.

That works for me. I reconfigure often, but only one box.

The number of installations also makes me wonder...with all the uninstalls and reinstalls often required for such complicated software, any NLE, really, if there is a limit, I have not reached it yet. Not in previous versions either. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
Nvidia GTX 960(4GB)/16GB DDR3/
Canon Vixia HV30/HF-M40/HF-M41/HF-G20/Olympus E-PL5.
Tape capture using 6 VCR, TBC-1000, Elite BVP4+, Sony D8 camcorder with TBC.

Hal....

You have been in here enough to know bu now that no one in here works for CL, so why would you come up with an asinine title like:

"Is there an attorney in the house? Official answer please" and ask for an official interpretation of the licenses agreement....

Go to customer support for that question not here.

Now if you had wanted to know how many times you can reinstall PD9, just ask... "Hey, how many times can I install PD9 and not go over the limit?" and most of us would have said... "What limit? Theres a limit???"

When you are asked to provide a DXDIAG you go the following link and do part "B". Your posted specs are NOT what we are looking for as they tell us nothing. The specs on the box of your computer mean nothing. The DXDIAG shows us how your computer is configured as it runs.

Maybe the limit that is mentioned here.

Quote: OK, only two things I can suggest because multiple activations of a section will end up with a security lock out. The lock out happens when a PD key is activated on more than one computer or it passes the limit CyberLink have set because multiple re-installing has changed the PC's ID.
