Hello I have a Power DVD 9 player which claims to be 3d enabled. Whenever i try playing a 3d movie I get an error saying my system is not 3d enabled. I have AMD 965 quad core, 8gb ram, bd drive > 2x, NVIDIA 430 with HDMI 1.4 . I cannot get Power DVD to detect the NVIDIA in the output types too.. The software came bundled with my LG drive. The regular Blue rays play fine in 2D

Can someone Help please

Hi samw123,

I got PDVD 9 3D with a Sony BD player, unfortunately I never got the 3D to work. It looks like it's a special build that Cyberlink supply to drive manufacturers ... I upgraded to PDVD Ultra Mk2.

Good luck, I'll keep an eye on this post for progress.

Dear Samw,

can you please let me know which PowerDVD Version was installed before applying the patch?

as far as I know there are only POwerDVD 9 OEM version in the field that can support 3D (and sometimes not BD).
Unfortunately you installed the retail patch so I can not identify which build you originally installed.

Michael ,
I loaded the OEM version for a LG BD drive . I also downloaded a patch from cyberlink and loaded it on top. I also downloaded the Powerdvd 11 to see if that works atleast. I will de install the powerdvd 9 and re install is there an registry cleaning step for Windows 7 that is needed. Thanks for looking into this.
Regards,
S.

Samw123,

I never got 1080p 3D to work with PDVD 9 3D but when I switched resolution down to 720p it worked fine (Christmas Carol, Bolt). Have you tried different resolutions or modes on your graphics card ?

If that doesn't work then I think it's unlikely the issue will be fixed, the 3D version of PDVD 9 seems to be a special build shipped with BD drives (my copy came with a Sony drive).

Hello Tech 81,
Thanks for the update.. It is sad that the product is advertised as working for 3d.. I was hoping to use this product . I know the product was oemmed but was hoping cyberlink would stand behind their advertisement( Th e product says cyberlink and not LG in my case, actually because of the cyberlink ad that pops up i was planning to buy a power director license) seems like i will shop around for a alternative like a new SW( a few cheaper ones around) or HW based bd... it would be nice to actually get a reply from michael or another cyberlink moderator to say they really wont help or there is no patch to support new outputs.....
I am sure there are quite a few ppl like me who would have bought a different drive that came with a different oem sw had we known.....

Thx again.

Hi,

it seems that your device can not accept HDMI 1.4 content?

which settings in PowerDVD did you test?

Michael:
Thanks for the reply.
I tried
1- Auto detect - This does not play in 3d
2- 120 Hz Time sequential 3D LCD - This plays in regular 2 d and even though a message says that the 3d play back requirees full screen
3-3d Ready Hdtv - This plays the movies with check appearing, but my 3d HDTV does not detect this as 3d
4- Micro-Polarizer LCD 3d- Plays with horizontal lines that look de interlaced but my 3d HDTV does not detect as 3d output.

I have Nvidia Video card that is HDMI 1.4 enabled and the Cable is HDMI1.4 , I played the movie " Despicable Me" on a Sharp BDHP25U and the 3 D works fine So the TV is not a problem.

I have tried playing the NVIDIA test app for 3d test and it shows up on my TV in 3d.- So my video card or cable are not the issue

I played the same movie with a Power DVD trial version 11 and the 3D does play on my TV using the same video card and cable- I used auto detect and HDMI1.4 as the output in this case.

Thanks for your response in advance.

Sam

P.S: The 2 D playback for blue ray is awesome. So I give that to cyberlink.

Okay , So someone is listening and paying attention. I got a update today that enabled 3d play on my TV..... Yahoo.. By a whim i tested auto detect for my 3d and voila... 3d playback on my vizio.
Here are the steps.
1.Enabled 1080 P HD 3D resolution for the VIdeo Output
2. Set AUto Detect on the 3D playback for POWER DVD
and it detected 120 HZ Time sequential LCD 3D
3.Put a 3d movie in and click accept for the 3d plack is only enabled in full screen mode.
4. Put your glasses and enjoy..

Michael Thanks a lot if you filed a bug report on my Behalf..
Rock on Baby...
