Hi

I am new to this so would like some help with a problem encountered...

I have imported and edited 2 movies now from my Panasonic SD9 camcorder (American version), impoted the AVCHD
files directly onto pc then loaded up into CL.
The edited films looks perfect when viewed in the editors window pane, the raw files also play perfect
on my PC, however, when Rendering and creating any type of Mpeg file and I playback the film it does what I can only describe as strobing / stuttering / lagging, this is more noticable when viewing panned shots. this happens no matter what media player is used, also this is the same when the film is burnt onto DVD and played back on my TV...
This has happened twice now and the completed movie is virtually unwatchable.

Any ideas anyone?

Many Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

your Panasonic records (only) in 1080p, yes?
To deal with these recordings, you better have a good equipped computer.
How long is the duration of the video you render?
Do you use transitions and titles?

I have a Panasonic HDC-SD600. Records in (only)1080i or 1080p. I usually choose 1080p.
My computer deals with it, but very often I choose to pre-render parts, about 2-5 min long.
Especially if I have transitions, titles etc. I later bring the parts together.

I also often convert the clips in advance, mostly to 1280x720p. (I do not use TV much for my videos)
It lessens the burden on my pc and I can make parts of longer duration or have more "stuff" going on.

You should probably make a post with the DxDiag of your pc attached.

Nina

Hi Nina

Thank you for a very quick response..

I purchased a PC with a good spec in mind for this purpose, of top of my head cannot recall exact spec, I actually have
2 PC`s one is a quad core and one is a dual core, I have a minimum of 4mb RAM and the problem is on both.

this morning I just started a new project and dragged and dropped files with no transistions at all and the problem was the same, it was only about 3 mins long, what I did notice though is that it looked fine when I created an AVI file of it.

I film in 1080p.

Thanks

Go here and do part B and attach it. Do not give us your specs from any of your paperwork, box or whatever as it tell us not much of anything. Your Dxdiag lets you know the specs of your computer as configured.....

There are a LOT of reasons for your issue. Just because you have a good computer with "good" specs does not mean a much with PD9. Especially depending on the brand, model, and video set up.

When you are asked to provide a DXDIAG you go the following link and do part "B". Your posted specs are NOT what we are looking for as they tell us nothing. The specs on the box of your computer mean nothing. The DXDIAG shows us how your computer is configured as it runs.

Paul,

I noticed your driver date for your card. (little memory?)
Others here might flog me for being possibly wrong, but maybe check out

or search your card here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
for update.

Just a thought.

Hi Nina

At this stage I will try anything, is it possible that this could affect the rendering?

Cheers

Hi,
Just looked at the DXdiag file and right of the bat you need MORE memory!!!! My suggestion would be Minimum 8GB, your mem show 2MB! hardly enough for window 7 64Bit (my opinion).
JIm Intel i7-2600@3.4Gz Geforce 560ti-1GB Graphic accelerator, windows 7 Premium 12GB memory

Hi Jim

Thankyou for the suggestion, I have installed 8gb Ram and the problem is still there...
Anyone els have any other suggestions?

My raw AVCHD files perfectly, the moment I pull them into Cyberlink and produce an MP4 movie I get this problem of the film being all jumpy..!
Even short movies at 1-2 mins with no transistions.

Could it be to do with the region codings etc.. my camcorder is an NTSC model so should I have any partticular settings for this in CL.

Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,

I wonder what you mean by "jumpy" (oddly enough )
Could you attach a few seconds of your raw clip, and I'll try it out.

Will do so shortly... Just noticed that my Camcorder is set up for 1080i and not 1080p, this should not make any difference though.

Cheers

In short:

You don't have enough computer to edit HD video in Powerdirector 9.

You only have 2 Megabytes of RAM and your Video Card is a Low end Video card it is ranked 56 where higher numbers is better.

You need a lot more computer to edit HD videos. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Hello, today I installed 8gb ram and the problem still exists. I don't understand how the video card can affect the end file, it is the same if I burn directly to DVD or copy the files onto other pcs to play, even is the same on my iPad.
Downloaded mp4 movies play perfect too.

Thanks

The Video Card is a part of the rendering system.

If the Video card does not or can not render video, then it falls to the CPU to do all of the work, that can be very SLOW.

What is the Video Card interface on the computer's mother board?

Common Video card connectors are PCI or PCIe or AGP.
And a whole bunch of obsolete types.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_card

You have to know which one your computer has.

A good source of benchmarks and also some ideas of the better video cards.

Nina:- Trying to attach a small file for you but even a small few seconds clip of raw .MTS file is around 30mb.

Carl:- I have PCIe slots available, was actually looking at the card you have, has come down to a reasonable price but I may have to look for one a little cheaper right now, I will be looking for a min of 1gb memory, is there any other criteria that I need to be aware of?

Thanks for all your help

Paul,

4 sec of .mts gave me 11.5Mb. Still large for attachment, I know.
I think, however, you are on the right track when you are upgrading your computer.
Let us know how you get on.

Paul,

My ATI 5770 video card is getting a little old. And I have seen problems in Powerdirector 9 about this card in the PD9 forum. So use caution when choosing your video card.

Other criteria would be the number of stream processors available. My 5770 has 800 stream processors.

I can not at this time speak of PD9 and this video card because I am not using PowerDirector 9 right now.

Look at the Video card bench marks and choose one you can afford. A good video card for Powerdirector 9 will be over $100 in today's market. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.
