CL-A

1. When is the "free" PhtDr2011 download coming for those who responded to the survey?

2. Are there any plans to integrate PhtDr2011 with PowerDirector?
PhotoNow! is almost worthless. It's like wooden wheels on a race-car!

So, whose the puke giving out low-stars for run-of-the-mill posts?

Barry,
1. The free PhotoDirector 2011 full build (for those who submitted survey form) will be ready in the end of June. A notification email will be sent to these participants to get the free build.

2. PhotoDirector 2011 is designed to be a more independent photography software, and very unlikely to be integrated into PowerDirector. The natures are simply different. However, if you have any suggestion to enhance PhotoNow, pls feel free to raise it and I'll make sure your voice is heard well.

Hi Brandon

Just a couple of questions.

1. Have you fixed all the 'bugs' in this program?

2. Who gave you a 5 star karma rating for posting a "please read before you post"? Not bad for a 'Newbie' who has only one post. Happing editing

Hi Neil,
1. Certain known issues are scheduled to be fixed in the coming patches, depends on their severity and scope.

2. Thank you for the compliment. The stars were given by visitors. I cannot rate my own post. I'll improve it so that new comers can catch up easily.

How can CL charge consumers $99 USD for a product with known defects and then issue patches as an apology for their incompetence?

Isn't that illegal?

Surely your customers deserve better!

Reminds me of PowerDirector 9.

Hi Neil,

Good question! You are absolutely right that all customers deserve better and that's what we are trying to achieve and provide.

Patch and service pack are solutions that software/hardware companies use to fix issues that are reported either before or after a product is shipped. Based on the majority of beta users' feedback, the quality of PhotoDirector 2011 Beta is above their expectations and hence increased our confidence level to release the official version. Certainly the official release is a much improved build of beta.

We sincerely appreciate your voice and that's what motivates us to provide better solution.

Brandon

There is a saying in computer programming that the program is done when you run out of time. I don't know who sets the release schedule for CyberLink, but sometimes you just have to go forward with non-critical bugs and fix them later. I guess whether or not it is fair to the customer depends on how severe the bug is.

CyberLink offers a free trial period. The market place will decide. __________________________________

Yes, I'll feedback Barry's demand to the product team and see what they can do to meet the expectation.

Somebody is having a fit with the star ratings on this thread.

As for Photonow! A few more features would be welcome, not the least of which is the ability to straighten a photo/image.
Also saving a PNG without losing the transparent background.
Certainly 1 or 2 other things.
I understand the usefulness of a quick-fix plug-in, so maybe just tweaking PhotoNow! would be the best path.

How do I get almost All 5-star (or none) for years, and then some little turd with an attitude gives low-star ratings for simple observations about a new product, and my rating goes down?

I'm one of those awaiting the free PD2011 but having trouble with my preview program. The preset tab in adjustments will not load and "unknown error" messages prevent me from editing pictures. Otherwise I like the program.

Are these kind of bugs being fixed?

Sadly, it appears that not everyone that was a beta tester gets the free version. I replied to the survey, send in a number of bug reports...and even a fix. Now...nothing. I get an email offering me 25% off. Emails bounce back as much as kangaroos on Red Bull. Kind of a joke.

Hi mpeman01 -

My understanding is that everyone who even downloaded the Beta version of PhotoDirector received that 25% discount email, whether they submitted reports or not.

As Brandon stated earlier...
The free PhotoDirector 2011 full build (for those who submitted survey form) will be ready in the end of June. A notification email will be sent to these participants to get the free build.

He didn't sound like he was joking to me.

Guys - you're right about the stars. This thread is just another example of how silly it all is (and, by the way, it's only made completely ridiculous by people who misuse it!). It's gotta go!

Cheers - Tony

Totally agree Tony.

NASA used to write bugless software. Fe. space shuttle software has no bugs detected. 500.000 lines of code and no bugs. At 400 USD (four hundred USD) per line.... Thats 80-50 times industry average.

So, what about PD for 5000 USD?

If PhotoDirector could sustain life-support and communication systems for a crew and direct a space-craft in orbit, and bring the craft back to Earth safely, yeah, 5-large might be fair, but what about just editing a photo?
