New to the forum...and powerdirector 9. Have a video/auio clip in time line and I use the split to make into two sections. I can then take a section and move it so I have a gap between the now created two clips(it looks like this: clip - gray space- clip). But when I play the entire clip and the time line moves into the gray section I can still see the video plsying, it's acting like I did not split the clip at all. I'm I not understanding the concept of what the split function does? Any help would be great.
thanks

Hi Randy,

The split function is primarily used to trim a clip. The unwanted section of the clip can be deleted. It is a quick way of trimming a clip as against using the Trim Function.
As to your problem re the space (grey gap) in the timeline playing. I do not understand this. When in movie mode this gap plays black in the preview window. Someone more experienced than I am may have an answer.

Cheers
Des

Can you attach a screenshot of the workspace showing the video that you are editing? __________________________________

Where are you 'moving' the part of the clip that you cut out to? If you are just dragging it to a lower track, then it will still play when you are in movie playback mode. If you're in clip playback mode, playback should stop at the end of the clip, and not go into the grey area.

As Jaime requested, a screenshot would help. PowerDirector 10 Ultra

Thanks for all the responses. I did find the answer to getting rid of a section in the middle of a clip. I needed to use split twice, once at the start of the section I wanted to delete and then again do a split at the end of unwanted section.
Thanks again....
