I'm not sure where those options are, but sounds similar to the functions to clean up a less than perfect video. Don't use them unless you have a good reason to as they likely slow down production, maybe a lot.

Hi Jamie,
If you click on the 'Create a new profile' (+) button in the produce window and then click on video you will see under Advanced ,smoothing and noise removal. I have never used this.

Thanks, I didn't try the new profile button. I'll have a look, but obviously I have never used it or I would have known where to find it.

It probably takes more time to analyze the video for compression and may, or may not, give better quality.

Those options are available when you're producing an MPEG-2 file to a custom profile (only).
If your original clips are of good quality, you shouldn't need to apply any smoothing or noise removal. As Jaime said, it'll slow down production time anyway. To be honest, I don't have a clue what that speed/quality slider does - it certainly doesn't affect resolution or bitrate.
