Well, try to search on youtube for some 'basic' tags, like city / trip / holiday / family / etc.

For example: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=city+trip+family&aq=f Massive.

Hiielind,

you are right ; it is very nice to watch! Beautiful skylines, good "shooting" and very
nicely edited. Free from fancy effects, thank heavens, as the mood of the video would have been
distroyed. Just my opinion.
And, videos like this makes me want to travel!

I was taken by the instrument played by the guy in the street.
Right now I can't remember the name for it. A Norwegian girl was recently presented here
with that instrument, playing outside the OperaHouse in Oslo. Very special sound and tone.
She had brought it home from......? some Eastern/Asian country....?

I really enjoyed your video.
Thank you!

Nina

Thanks, it took me about an hour, though using Expression Encoder slowed down the process. I tried to make it as professional as a PDToot

I apologize, accidental reply

Nice to see this thread going on more and more.
One thing I see in every movie, and of which I wonder why:

why do you use those extremely big fonts? Most of the time it's fullscreen and in the centre.
In my opinion it's too bad for the original shot and besides, when you play it on a TV or something it's just an overwhelming piece of text.

I know it's the style that anyone uses for himself. I give just my opinion. I do like stylish text in the top or bottom corner more

Font size can vary depending on how the editor expects his/her video to be seen, a little screen, or a big screen. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
Nvidia GTX 960(4GB)/16GB DDR3/
Canon Vixia HV30/HF-M40/HF-M41/HF-G20/Olympus E-PL5.

HwKoK, interesting suggestion though a little overstated. Remember we are talking about preferences not life changing decisions. Ha! Ha!
I will try your idea next time to see how it works for me.

Are you talking about titles or subtitles?

I'm talking about titles. But what I said: it's not MY style. Everybody is free to do what he/she likes. But I was just wondering why someone uses that big fonts, so no personal attack or something!

Actually, I think that BarrytheCrab gives the correct answer: it depends on the purpose of the movie. When you want to give a presentation on a screen for example at a wedding, you can use bigger fonts. When you just want to show it on your TV or on Youtube/Vimeo, it's better to use some smaller fonts. Massive.

Hi guys -

Nice thread. Good to see a bit of focus on the videos people are making. I like it!

Just a couple of insights...

The instrument played in Andres' video is a hang drum - like a steel pan played upside down with hands... http://www.oddmusic.com/gallery/om16250.html

Nice work Andres!

KwKok - When my son was about 10 he had a sign on his bedroom door: "Everyone's entitled to my opinion."
When I was about 10, I learnt a song from my Dad. It went:
The monkey & the elephant went for a walk one day
Said the monkey to the elephant, "Oh why are you so grey?"
"I'm grey because I'm grey," said he, "and why are you so brown?
The monkey answered back and said, "I'm brown because I'm brown." Everyone's different.

Anyway - I do agree that some people's use of text on the screen is
as subtle as a sledgehammer!

Cheers - Tony

HANG DRUM !

Thanks, Tony. Switzerland ? Boy, I was way off !
Developed in 2000, according to Wikipedia. Now I can read more about it, knowing the name.
"Hang"- Bernise German word for "hand".
A drum + a melody instrument.

What we learned by watching your very nice video, Hiielind!

I keep my videos in Vimeo. Its free, you can use there password, max. 3 folders and shere them with family and relatives and everyone can watch were and when he/she wants

Tomorrow and day after we have here days off and we celebrate Midsummer Day: fire, a lot of cold beer and white nights
