I'm new to this forum so I hope this is the right place. I am planning on getting cyberlink powerdirector 9 and I wanted to know if the following computer specs are good for it. I am about to buy this computer, and I got a good price, but if there are small changes, now would be the time to make them. I have a GL2.

Motherboard: Intel DH67CL B3 H67 (ddr3)
Intel Core i7 1155 Quad 2600 3.4ghz 8mb
Quadro 600 1G-3 PCIE PNY
500GB SATA3 7200 WD hard drive (though I will be adding at least one more hard drive)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I am planning on running it with 9-12GB RAM

I do video editing as a side job, but I want a system that will last me the next bunch of years.

I think your video card choice is not the best choice.

One of the specs for that card is CUDA Cores 96.
That is not a great number of CUDA cores.

It ranks at 155 on the passmark benchmark.

There are video cards in the same price range that rank higher.

Hi Yitz -

I'd have to agree with Carl here. The CPU is great, but its high end status isn't matched by the GPU or the HHD space. If it were me, & especially if video editing generated income for you, I'd be investing more in a high performance graphics card and a couple of 2TB hard drives. 9-12GB RAM is plenty.

9-12MB RAM is plenty.

Tony, you fell on your keyboard.

MB=Megabyte= 1,000,000 bytes
GB=Gigabyte=1,000MB or 1,000,000,000 bytes.

In Memory a gigabyte= 1,073,741,824 bytes or 2 raised to the 30th power.

RAM should be in the 8-16 Gigabyte (GB) range for 64-bit OS.

Wow! Thanks for the quick replies. Glad I joined this forum. Can you recommend a comparable card that won't add too much to my total cost? What rank should I be looking for?

I'm not worried about space because I'm going to add my 500gb hard drive from my old computer for now, and when I get a few jobs that pay off this computer, I'll add more memory. That can always be added later.

9800GT and above
or
GT/GTS/GTX 200 series, 400 series, or 500 series.
How do you compare these? Which are in a similar price range as the one I mentioned, but better? I'm having trouble figuring this all out!

Thanks for all the responses. In the end, they didn't have the graphics card I wanted, so I got a slightly different model. These are the finals specs:

Looking good! You should be happy with the GTX 550.

Personally, I'd shoot for 1TB+ drives. It doesn't take long to choke them up!

Did you try going to the manufacturer of your card and look of updated drivers for Windows 7?

Didn't your new motherboard have firewire?

Go to Newegg.com and search for firewire cards.
