PowerDVD 11 Fails to launch.

Just upgraded from powerdvd10ultra to 11 ultra upgrade version.

Installed pdvd11 and then clicked to launch the program. nothing. The program shows up in the taskbar menu but I cannot actually use the program. I have tried to reinstall everything(everything to the default directories) and it still does the same thing.

If I reinstall only powerdvd10. everything works. only when applying the 11ultra upgrade does powerdvd fail to launch.

Suggestions? Please help!

"Installed pdvd11 and then clicked to launch the program. nothing."

Try right clicking "CyberLink 11 Start Icon" in the Start Menu and then click "Run As Administrator"

Just wanted to make sure that the developers, or whoever looks at these forums, know that this problem is common. Went from PowerDVD 10 to 11, and now I can't start up PD11.

========

I think my problem started with this: After I saw that PD11 was out, I uninstalled PD10 and I didn't reboot after uninstalling (because I'm impatient), so what I did was I ran CCleaner and Tuneup Utilities to clean out useless registry keys. I believe that with this process I deleted vital registry keys therefore leading to this problem we have now.

I also noticed that after installing trial PD11 that when I go to regedit, and go HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\, I find that there is no Cyberlink folder, where it should be. This is PowerDVD 11 Trial version which I downloaded off of cnet.

Well, glad at least they have some known issues posted. They still ask me to do silly things if I contact them.

But, if any of you are using AMD drivers then you should be able to get it to start up by right clicking on the powerdvd exe file, and set compatibility to windows 7. Well, that works for me to get it going but don't work in Cinema mode.

I don't have any starting problem when using Intel drivers.

But PDVD would start up in Cinema mode for me with AMD, but had to get it in that mode before trying to play anything.

PDVD 11 appears to be buggy overall though.

Hello, excuse my English but I am Italian. So I too have had the same problem, the program crashed because it was conflicting with my sound card. I have a ASUS Xonar Essence STX pciex, I disabled the device "amd high definition audio device" from the control panel, and now everything works beautifully. I do not know if others have problems with this same sound card or other cards, I believe that powerdvd11 have problems with the HDMI device, wait about an update from cyberlink. I hope I have helped someone in need. Thanks.

I have a similar problem:
Upgrade from PowerDVD 10 Ultra to PowerDVD 11 Ultra was successful. But after starting the application the PowerDVD 11-window opens and about a second later a black rectangle appears above it, hiding about 80 percent of the PowerDVD window. Nothing can be moved or resized. Only the controls at the lower border are functional. Terminating the application is only possible using the taskline context.
An afterwards parallel installed PowerDVD 10 version runs without any problem.

My system: ASUS 4M89GTD PRO mainboard with Phenom II X6 processor, 4GB DDR3-RAM, AMD HD4650 graphics board, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Hi,

at the moment i am very disappointed about cyberlink products (esp. pdvd). there seems to be no quality end controll while the main qualitiy of the product is very high (i am using pdvd since v7) some bugs come and go and some should never happen (no starting up at all, only working in cinema mode, keyboard shortcuts not working, HD-Audio Settings are not going to be saved - for example) and some should be fixed faster (IE9 compatibl. for example, because user are pushed to use it for security purpose.)
i am positive impressed by the guys in this forum (esp. Michael BIG THX) but theres is week after week going on and cyberlink seems to do nothing - so if anyone could speed up things a little - please do so (i do not want new features, just fix the products to use it ....).
the products is almost unusable to me right now and i can't stand this anymore ....

sorry to be OT a little but i think this is the only way to let some things out that the vendor is not willing to react on in a customer friendly way ....

Frank

Yeah, I agree. I need to check on when I purchased PDVD 11, and see if I can get a refund. I'm sure they know all about not working right with AMD drivers, no remote in Cinema mode, ect. or hope they do. Yet all I received by email is asking for things that has nothing to do with the actual problems.

I guess that's what I get for actually buying it.
