No audio in OEM version?

I recently purchased a new HP desktop that had PowerDirector pre-installed. As one of the primary reasons for buying my new PC was to finally be able to make some DVDs from my CamCorder AVCHD files, the first thing I did was open up PowerDirector to make a test DVD. Much to my dismay, after setting it up for a burn, I get a message telling me that to get Dolby Digital, I have to buy the full version. Not really caring about that so much (and assuming it would put something on there), I went ahead and burned. There was no audio at all on the DVD when I watched it. How lame, give me a program then take away the sound unless I spend the extra money to buy something to enable sound. Anyway, very upset about it, but am curious if there was a way to at least somehow downgrade the sound (within PowerDirector) to something I can burn. Stereo would be just fine for me, but I can't seem to find any options to do so. Is that because of my gimped program/teaser program? This hasn't in any way encouraged me to buy a Cyberlink product, actually, quite the opposite.

So what is your Powerdirector version?

Part A and Part B

On the audio format, as far as I know Microsoft WAV format always works in Powerdirector.

Some versions of Powerdirector do not support some of the digital formats.

Thanks for the response. I am away from my PC at the moment, but I'm pretty sure it is 9... or at least it looks like it. I assumed it was the full program when I bought the PC, but it isn't. It isn't a trial, but also isn't fully enabled. From the attachment you posted, it has to be PDR-HE version. I guess my AVCHD vids are encoded with Dolby Digital, but am wondering if PowerDirector has some sort of way (e.g., through the options) to burn it as something like Dolby Stereo or something. It is just a camcorder vid, and I'm not convinced I need 5.1 for that, as I'm just using the default microphone.

DVD standard will allow for linear PCM audio so select that option. You may have to go into the profile settings to change it (although it should default to an audio option the programme can actually use !?!?! Perhaps a stategy to get you to upgrade) Panasonic SD9, Panasonic TM700, Panasonic SD600, GoPro HD Hero.

Thanks. That is what I am trying to say, no option comes up to change it, or to burn it with a different audio selection. I assumed it did, but instead it just burned with no audio. I've tried to find it in a menu or something, but have had no luck at all. I'm actually pretty mad at Cyberlink for including a gimped program (which makes me more likely to look for a solution elsewhere). I also have an issue with their PowerDVD program costing the same as my stand alone Blu Ray player. Crazy prices. I just assumed I could actually use the program. I also have ImageMixer (came with Camcorder), but it only burns on DVD-R format, which is hard to find with Lightscribe or Labelflash. No luck so far.

I think you got bit with trying to save a buck.

To make better choices for software weight the cost vs function.

When It comes to Video Editors, Powerdirector ULTRA gives the best bang for the buck. About $100 and does everything.

Compare that price to some of the other Video Editors. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.
