I have a WIN7 HTPC with a Radeon 5450 Graphic card and powerdvd 10. i want to be acle to play mt BD library play back of HD bitstream audio i.e. DTS-HD. I ran the cyberlink BD Advisor and it passes all the tests. i have PowerDvd configured for HDMI audio playback for undecoded dolby digital/DTS to external device. When i play my BD Movies display "Show Information" and Audio displays as DTS-HD Master Audio, but the Output is playing compressed data. The HDMI is played thru a Yamaha RX V1900 which has the decoders to produce HD-DTS etc. However when the PowerDVD output is played as compressed DTS. I have other devices that play thru the AV rexceiver as DTS-HD.

The Radeon Graphic card supports the HD audio formats...Does anyone know how get this to work?

To get HD audio bitstreaming you need the right hardware.

You can NOT enable HD audio bitstreaming unless you are actually playing a blu ray through HDMI with audio enabled to a PAP supported audio device.

Start the blu ray playing
go to the setings
audio
confirm it is using your hdmi while there
the output mode will now have 3 options!
pcm decoded by powerdvd
non-decoded dolby digital/dts to external device
non-decoded high definition audio to external device

Select the new 3rd option and your AVR should light up with DTS MA or DOLBY TRUEHD on the main feature.

The information window will say something like
Audio: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 1560Kbps
Output: Compressed data

The AVR will say
DTS HD Master Audio 5.1

If you are still having issue please provide some missing information:

Larry, Thanks for your comment...let me clarify. I am playing the BluRay through what I expect is supported HDMI hardware. I have a Graphics Card (Radeon HD 5450) that is certified for HD audio bitstreaming and is HDCP certifed. I have BDRom Player that are also certiied, my display is a HDTV connected using a AV received, which is also HDMI and BD cerified. When playing content from by DVR and Standalone BD player, my HD content all plays as DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD. So the issue appears to be with PowerDVD and Graphics Card, which is on the list of certified cards on the Cyberlink site. I also ran the Cyberink BR hardware analyser to validate my configuration. Everything passed, so I am at a loss.

However, in PowerDVD audio settings I only have two output options; pcm decoded by powerdvd and non-decoded dolby digital/dts to external device.

I do not have the third; non-decoded high definition audio to external device, which most likely is the cause of my problem. If this a compatibliy issue between PowerDVD and my Radeon HD Graphics card I can RMA it and get one that will work. However, before I do that I want to make sure that is the problem as I understand the Radeon HD 5000 series is certified with PowerDVD. Do you know of any graphic cards which will work, as I would like to get this wrapped up while I can still RMA the graphics card, if indeed that is the issue.

I have seen some other users on this forum complaining about HD audio and their ATI drivers. I believe one fix was to download the latest ATI HDMI Audio Device driver from the realtek web site and use it instead of the included HDMI audio driver with the ATI drivers.

I have a NVIDIA card so can't tell you exactly what needs to be done, but from my experience it is imperative that you actually press play on the blu ray and get it playing before that extra output mode becomes available.

I have the same issue. Happened with both the AMD/ATI and the realtek driver. Already had a support ticket in with Cyberlink and its been forwarded to their Product & Development team.

I'm running a Diamond Radeon HD6970, HDMI 1.4 cables all over and PowerDVD 10 refuses to give me the 3rd HDMI audio option.

Hell, I even did a fresh OS install with only chipset drivers, display drivers, HDMI audio drivers and PowerDVD10 and still did not work.

All we can do is wait and see.

Hi,
Please try this:

1. keep the Realtek Audio enabled
2. please install Realtek Audio driver for AMD / ATI from Realtek website
3.. please update to latest PowerDVD 10 v2701 - your Version is pretty outdated already
