I found PD9 DVD to be the worst of all I have used. the program will render and edit great but the playback of a burned DVD is JUNK! BD is ok but not good. I have used several programs and find Adobe Premiere elements to do a much better job of burning DVD's. Good luck

Hmmmm...my favorite is PD9 Ultra. I bought this software in hope to make very good quality videos. But the DVD Quality is very bad. Can anyone of the support verify this problem ?!

What do you mean by full HD? I have found that the quality is better when I start with 1080p than when I start with 1080i. Either way the quality is better than when I start with 480i. Quality is also noticeably better in bright light than dim light. __________________________________

This topic has been raised a few times before.

Basically if you want the full high definition experience you need the following:

A.
1. A full HD 1920 x 1080 LCD or plasma TV
2. A blu ray DVD player
3. A full HD 1920 x 1080 video camera set on the highest quality
4. A blu ray burner and blank blu ray discs (normal DVDs use 720 x 576).
5. A video editor like PD8 that can handle HD video files.

OR

B.
1. A full HD 1920 x 1080 LCD or plasma TV
2. A full HD 1920 x 1080 video camera set on the highest quality
3. HDMI leads and view the camera through the TV.

OR

C.
1. A full HD 1920 x 1080 LCD or plasma TV
2. A full HD 1920 x 1080 video camera set on the highest quality
3. A video editor like PD 8 that can handle HD video files AND can produce the project in a MPEG2 1920x1080
4. A Western Digital media player or similar to play the produced MPEG2 1920 x 1080 video files.

‘C’ is the configuration I use and store the rendered MPEG2 HD file on a mass storage device connected to the media player which in turn is connected to a full HD TV. The picture quality is absolutely fantastic.

cubbyhousefilms, i know all the things you said...my personality video hardware is all High Definition...

but my parents and my friends DON'T have BD Player or FullHD TV's like me.

In that case (very often) i need power Dirctor 9 to burn (from my basicly AVCHD Full HD 1080i Streams) DVD HQ Discs with menus (non HD) . But with the Quality of the video's are very bad, in compare to Nero Vision 10 or Corel Video Studio.

In PD9 Ultra64 there are many big artfefacts, biggest pixels. The Bitrate is normaly at 8500 Kbps.

When you produce with Nero or Corel, the Video Quality ist MUCH BETTER. At the same Bitrate.

Please test it, you will see.

At the moment i can't use PD9, because the picture Quality is too bad to watch a seldmade DVD Film on an non-Full-HD TV. It's terrible...

I think you have ansewred your own question.

I burn DVDs as well but I choose not to use PD. I do use PD to burn my BDs though.

When I burn a DVD I choose 'burn to folder' and then 'burn' using Nero and the results are pretty good.

If you can't do this try reducing your 'burn' speed from say x22 to x4. Happing editing

A free DVD burner that is very reliable is ImgBurn. It's prinmary advantage is that it can VERIFY the burn after it is done to ensure that what you produced is what is on the DVD. Win 10, i7

Please test it, you will see.

I do this with almost an hour of video every week and I don't have the problems that you list. What graphics card do you have in your computer? __________________________________

The burning is not the problem.

Beforce i Burn with PD9 i use "create a folder" with the registry trick.

But the produced Stream in the BDMV>Stream folder ist very bad.

When i burn this produced folder it's equal what bruning Software i use...the produced quality is very bad.

what stream do you basicly use ?! I use FullHD AVCHD 1080i (.mts) streams, and want to produce DVD Disc with MPEG-2 Quality.

i know that the quality would be bader than the original streams, but in Nero or Corel there are no big pixels or compressive artifacts. It looks like Original DVD HQ Quali, but not so in PD9. It looks like Very Low Quality, in spite of same produced bitrate.

At this evening i post some video links, than you can take a look at this bad quality and compare...

If your SOURCE video is AVCHD then you should have no problems burning standard HQ DVD's. I've run two tests using your description and PD9 renders the DVD very well. Win 10, i7

And how is the Quality of the video ?!

I tried burning an AVCHD video to DVD-HQ with PD9 and Corel VideoStudio. The PD9 DVD was actually better. Win 10, i7

blasiusxx , just a thought, do you have an Nvidia graphics card. The reason I ask the latest driver 266.58 when using hardware acceleration in the produce window, produces artefacts in the produced video. The older driver did not. I just turn off hardware acceleration in the produce window until the next driver comes out, I have a fairly powerful computer so I don't loose much. No, i've installed the latest Geforce 270.51, this driver solved this issue. The problem with the driver was only in Produce H.264 Streams with Hardware Acceleration. Not in Produce DVD HQ or MPEG-2 Streams. There is no Hardware Acceleration Option.


I tried another experiment.

I burn a BD H.264 from the basicly AVCHD 1080i streams. The Quality is very good, like the Original.

Then i get the .m2ts Stream from the BDMV Stream Folder and produce with it a new DVD HQ Disc.

Nothing changes, same worst quality.

Here are my Videos. Both produced are with the same DVD HQ Standard Settings. The Bitrate is fixed an cannot be changed in the Disc Burning Modus.

Nothin codec than Original PD9 Ultra 64 is installed. Newest Geforce Driver and Windows 7 64 Bit up to date with latest Updates. Have attached my dxdiag in hope that someone could help me

I've tried to produce an MPEG2 Stream with 12000 Kbps with PD9 Ultra64 , Quality at Level 7, progressiv and interlaced. The Quality in Progressiv is much better with higher bitrate, but i cannot change this in Disc Burning.

I realize this is an old post, and this in fact is my point. I am using V12 many years later, and MY version is offering me the SAME poor quality with the SAME issues that this post talks about, all these years later.
