My computer came with PD8 mistakenly installed. The provider has given me PD9. What are the proper steps involved to replace my PD8 with PD9. Both versions are full boxed versions.

Operating system is Win 7 64 bit.

In control panel > add/remove programs, uninstall PowerDirector 8. Re-Boot computer.

Install PowerDirector 9. Register the software.

As far as I know, the installer of PD9 automatically detects former PD versions and removes them during installation procedure.
Or did that change since earlier versions of PD9?

To go a step further. You can run CCLEANER if you have it in order to clean out the registry of the old PD8 before installing PD9.

I always find entries of PD in my registry after an uninstall.

In a bit more detail:

- remove PD8 using control panel
- restart PC
- install PD9, install content pack, activate
- download update (if your version is not release 2702)

If you are using Win7 - 64 bit then PD9 will be loaded and running in 64 bit mode (=faster) Win 10, i7
