actually, I own an external USB X-BOX 360 HD-DVD ROM Drive. It is connected to my HTPC in combination with a recently installed latest version of PowerDVD Ultra. This combination is in use for HD-DVD Playback on my DIY Full-HD Projector. Everything works just fine at the moment.

Actually, I'd also like to run an additional external USB Blu-Ray Drive for playback of Blu-Ray Disks with my equipment, too. The aim is to use both HD-Formats on my HTPC playback machine.


I know that Cyberlink recommends to chose either between HD-DVD or Blu-Ray edition when you install PowerDVD Ultra on your PC. So this is why I need your help.

What enables me to do so and use both HD-Formats (HD-DVD and Blu-Ray ) in "coexistence" on one single machine?

Do I have to create an additional User Profile in my Windows XP and install a secondary Program Version of PowerDVD Ultra (in this case the additional Blu-Ray support edition) on this additional User-Profile?!
So do I have to switch between these two parallel installed editions of PowerDVD Ultra on my HTPC / betweeen the two User Profiles in WIN XP?!

Please help me. I guess one of you or one of the Developers of PowerDVD Ultra can help me out of my problem.

ich besitze derzeit u.a. ein HD-DVD-Laufwerk für die X-BOX 360, das ich per USB an meinem HTPC hängen habe. Das ganze läuft i.V.m. PowerDVD Ultra auch so wie ich mir das vorstelle. HD-DVD'S werden sauber und in voller Auflösung auf meinem Full-HD-Eigenbau-Projektor ausgegeben.

Jetzt würde ich aber gerne zusätzlich zu HD-DVD noch ein zusätzliches exterenes USB Blu-Ray Laufwerk mit an den HTPC hängen, um beide HD-Formate parallel über meinem HTPC mittels Power DVD Ultra abspielen zu können. Quasi die "eierlegende Wollmilchsau" eines HD-Abspielgerätes.

Da Cyberlink bei der Installation von PowerDVD Ultra ja bekanntlich zu Beginn der Installation abfragt, ob man entweder HD-DVD oder Blu-Ray nutzen möchte, frage ich mich gerade, wie beides nebeneinander in Koexistenz funktionieren soll?

Muss man dazu dann ggf. im WINDOWS XP einen zweiten User (2. Benutzerprofil) anlegen, um dann über dessen Benutzerprofil zusätzlich auch die PowerDVD Ultra Blu-Ray Edition mittels zusätzlicher Installation von PowerDVD Ultra Blu-Ray Edition nutzen zu können?!

Sollte dies funktionieren, müsste dann zwischen den beiden Benutzerprofilen im Windows hin-und herwechseln, um entweder die HD-DVD oder die Blu-Ray Variante von Power DVD Ultra nutzen zu können?!

Vielleicht kann mir ja auch einer der Cyberlink-Entwickler dazu eine konkrete Auskunft geben wie ich beides nutzen kann. ---------------------------------------
