Well out of the blue 8 hrs into my project I have lost all smartsound integration.

I get the message when accessing smartsound with an old and new project:

"The smartsound database cond not be opened properly. Smartsound Quicktracks 5 cannot continue at this time and will close.

Unfortunately used smartsound extensively in my project and I have lost a lot of work.

Any suggestions.

Its probably time to reinstall everything. It appears this integration is too immature at this point and not quite ready for use seriously.

I don't have a ton of time to be meesing with all these quirks.

"Messing with quirks" .... some of us here have been doing that for a very long time.
That's why, actually, people in here might be able to help you.
You are having several posts going now, Dave,
and I think it's time to ask you for your DxDiag.
Guys in here will have to look at your computers specs.

As for Smartsound; your problem is quite known.
You might go to the search-button on top of the forums frontpage and do a search.
You might also contact SS. They are extremely good at customer-service.

I had SF installed on a 32-bit XP for years.
Now I'm on 64 Win 7.
I had to go to SS/SF- and download an update.
It fixed the problems I had.
Mind you, I do NOT use Quicktracks. ( I uninstall them)
In my experience, they tend to mess up.

Nina

ll give you the computer specs

I have a nice vanilla version of Win-7 Pro that boot ups within a minute. No Dell or spyware bloated OEM windows on this computer.

AMD 5600X2 dual core processor
4 GB ram that I know only 3.5 GB can be accessed as I am 32 bit.
500 GB HD
Nvidia 8800GT 500MB RAM with latest drivers.
CL X-FI Sound Card

I can run every program even Crysis and Fallout 3 maxed out no problem.

The only program I can not run without crashing is Power Director So far. And I feel the smartsound integration has caused most of the issues.

I'm sure if I went to the sonic fire forum and complained about the quicktracks errors appearing in PD9 they would pass the buck.

I also had the error "about me deleting some quicktracks folder also".

Ulead was doing perfect before they butchered it into their new X3 crash studio and I decided to give PD9 a try. Ulead does not handle the new Panasonic FZ-35 AVCHD .MTS files too well.

Maybe I can point a finger at Bloated Quicktime that I totally despise having on my computer and I'll look to get the latest update.

I also see PD9 left a ton of junk in my registry after uninstalling. That's not too professional.

I am ready to reinstall have a CCLEANING.

Well I reinstalled everything.

I uninstalled the SS PD9 plugin as it was for my old PD8.

When installing PD9 it updated my SS files that was nice.

I got my old project back.

I better save an image of my HD before anything more surprises comes up.

But I like what I see so far.

Debating to use or not use shadow files.

Luckily I was able to sneek back my SS directories by pointing to them in Sonicfires Folder and Album options and canceling copy for CD when asked.

Time for a chill out with a beer on the couch after this mess. This stuff exhausts me. I want to use the program not constantly tweek it.
