master volume at max when recording and other issues

hi guys n gals
we recently bought K-world USB device so my son can record his gaming experiences and.... yes post to U-tube with his friends
K-world came with PowerDirecor7 & PowerProducer5 in the box but has no numbered code to register product ??

took us a bit to get PD7 to find K-world usb device but did in the end
our problem is that while PD7 records fine, the volume is recorded at Maximum ?? although we have changed the master volume in settings there seems to be no difference on playback ie, Maxed out on volume ?

the video quality could be better after video has been produced, not sure what the best settings are ?

converting the .pds files ? media player wont play them as doesn't seem to support the codecs used to create the file ?

Any tips and advice

Barry,

I can't answer much of your post, but I can explain the above.

The .pds file is simply a text file that has the instructions for PD. Where the original files are, what you want to do with the files, etc.

Power Director does not actually change the original clips, it only stores the editing instructions. To get a file that you can play on a media player you have to go to the produce tab and produce the project to a video file of your choice, or go to the create disc tab to burn the project to disc.

i figured that much out about the .pds files and that its for PD to open them, my Vaio can convert them to play on media player but me sons Compaq wont so i take it its down to installed codecs

i have used other programs and i'm just new to PD and getting to grips with it, hope others have some tips for me

i suppose my biggest problem is the volume input ( audio jack from the K-world USB connected to external mic ) and controll level as it doesn't do what i'm asking off it while in the settings before i record we have try'd turning master volume down to 1 , bet records at 10

any advice on what files to produce for better playback quality (.AVI/MPEG1or2/AVC-MPEG4)

also i have been prompted about (NTSC/PAL) conflicting issue ? unsure about that as not changed anything there

also why cant i use SVRT while rendering ? cant tick the box

I generally produce to a quality that is at the very least the same as the source files.

Currently I am working with 1920X1080i clips. When producing for Youtube I produce to H.264 AVCHD 1920X1080p.

I am quite happy with the final product when uploaded to Youtube. You may have to experiment with some different types and settings to get the output that suits you best.

As for the PAL/NTSC you will have to set your preferences to suit the video that you are using. NTSC is generally a North American thing and PAL is for the European video. For how to set - see attached.

SVRT is only available if the video to be produced is the same as the output file and has not been modified. I have very seldom used SVRT myself.

i have also produced H.264 AVCHD (Mostly) when editing from digital video recording the final quality is great but when editing from games console recording (TV output) final upload seems pixelated

yeah i know we use and record in PAL 50 or 60 depending on the source ...... maybe its the refresh rate on PAL 50 / recording from his Xbox
