There is no LabelPrint forum.
The problem is STICK-ON labels, not any particular program.
Labels that are applied to the disc can cause them to get stuck in drive trays, or stutter when they play.
Find a Disc-printing printer. A multi-use printer that can also print ON a disc, can be bought for about $125.00.
There is no substitute for a label printed directly on the disc, of course, the disc must be ink-jet ready.

I have used labels in the past for over 10 years with never hearing about a single one of my labels causing any problems. If you have a good kit and use good labels (I always used Fellows brand) and use a label press. I have used Surething Label Maker software since it started.

I have labeled literally THOUSANDS of them. I buy DVD's and CD's in 500 bulk packs and go through 500 DVD's in less than 3 months. CD's not as much any more. I don't do music discs as much now that most everyone has XM out here now...

I have been using ink jet printable for the last 3 years using an Epson printer. I could understand if you have a disc that is constantly used on a daily basis as we all know those discs do get very warm when they are read for a hours or so non stop.

But my kids and grand kids watch DVD movies with my Fellows labels on them all day long every day and never have a problem.

BUT I recommend ink jet discs, and you can get a VERY good ink jet printer that can print to them cheap now days. Best thing I ever did. Next month I start one of my annual projects and I will have a 1 1/2 hour video to give out over 300 copies.

I have had clients, and the local TV station, ask me to avoid paper labels, and in a few cases I had some discs behave badly. But for the vast majority, paper works, but it's hard to beat the ease and quality of inkjet discs. Bubba and I use the same labeling program, but I also have Labelprint. My actual question about Labelprint, which I posted on Dzone, was, why don't the templates install? The file ext on the download is DZP. There is no correct place to post a question on this subject. I have no real experience, but I have read about the stick-ons causing problems with auto CD drives, especially changers.

I don't know what weight you want to put on those stories, but the big issue is that auto equipment doesn't have the "eject" pinhole and is hard to get at; so any problem is going to be expensive. Jerry Schwartz

Like Bubba I originally used a Fellows Stomper and paper labels and never had a problem. I now have a Canon Inkjet Printer that prints discs and have never looked back. The quality is excellent. I use the Canon EasyPrint software that came with the printer and have no complaints.

To throw my two cents in I concur with Bubba and Des.

I've never had any issues - however a recent upgrade to a HP ink jet that can print direct onto printable discs was the obvious solution and as a result I saved $'s on the over-priced CD labels.

But as someone said here in another post, with the advent of Lightscribe there seems to be fewer inkjet printers that will do DVD's, etc. And there aren't any Lightscribe BD media. Would it violate the rules of this forum to name your inkjet printer? I need a new printer but it has to be for general use and I need other features. Finding one that fits all is becoming very difficult.

I've noticed that Avery advertises a special "film" material that presumably is thinner and better adhering than paper. Maybe that will work. Whatever I produce will be viewed very infrequently. If you live in the USA, direct CD printing is a bit harder to find a printer.

Canon printers can print directly on CDs but you have to activate the feature.

Carl, what you said about Canon printers is interesting. I bought myself a Canon Pixma MX340 for use at my part-time work (yes, I bought it myself for my own convenience). I have an HP, but I looked at their site, and could not find a reference to a current model.

Thanks Barry. You're right about HP's. I don't see any that support disc printing (except for big $) whereas Epson has quite a few and some that address my other requirements too. I'll probably pick one up.

If you search for "enable cd printing canon" without quotes you can find the information on using some models of Canon Printer for Direct printing on CD/DVD.

My model is Canon Pixma ip4700, bought in the USA.
I do have the feature enabled.

I also use a CD/DVD label software that prints the CD directly and makes the inserts for the DVD Covers.

The reason for the difficulty of finding direct CD printers in the USA is the Epson patent.

Canon printers sold in Europe have the feature included.

If you check Canon UK you will find several Direct CD printers.

EDIT: Update to the Canon printers that do direct CD printing in USA/Canada.
Canon has a new printer model that includes the CD printing out of the box.
Model PIXMA ip4920.

I bought one of these a while back, It does a beautiful job of printing Inkjet printable disks.
I use "Acoustica CD Label Maker" to design my disks.

There is other good label designer software for direct CD printing.

I use a HP C5280 all in one.

This printer can print direct onto the discs and also has the capability of printing DVD/CD/Video covers etc etc with the supplied software.

I found a similar HP C5280's on Ebay available in the US. See links below
