i think profile.reg is a windows message, a .reg file is how values are loaded into the windows registry.
i would guess at two possibilities:
1. a burner device has not been properly installed and its chracteristics are not available to PD9 to figure out "how" to create the disk. check in manage hardware, looking for yellow ! mark in cd/DVD section
2. PowerDirector had problems during install, and the portion which manipulates the registry did not complete. This will mean you might have to uninstall, run a registry cleaner (ccleaner, free will work, get it from a good trusted site like pcworld or cnet), then reinstall.
you can edit profile.reg with "open with" notebook and see what it relates to, but unless you are comfortable with editing you registry, I would not just "run" it, as it also could be option 3, a virus or malware.
