Thanks for the info Keving. Do you know if you can use 9 32 bit on a 64bit OS? At this point I'm asking for a refund as they took a feature away from me. Not sure how far I will get...lol.

If I could run both programs on the same OS I would be happy with that as a work around for now. It's too much hassle for me to set up a dual boot just for this. Much easier to Revert back to R8....which I have already done.

I had the same problem you describe, but with encoding to the lossless codec Lagarith. I discovered that PD 64 bit doesn't see any of the codecs installed on your computer, even if you do have 64 bit versions of codecs (like I have Lagarith 64 bit and Xvid 64 bit). I was about to go back to PD8. like you intend to do, but I decided to take a look at the PD9 installation.

PD9 and PD8 can't coexist in the same Windows installation, although one installs in "Program Files" and one in "Program Files (x86)". If you simply try to install PD9 on a 64 bit machine it will install it's 64 bit version. If you try to install it on a 32 bit machine, it will install its 32 bit version. It doesn't mean you can't install the 32 bit version of PD9 on a 64 bit machine, which I already did, it is only not obvious and I don't know if it's encouraged by Cyberlink. If you want help with doing this, please post here and I'll PM you with instructions.

I should add that I've tested both version of PD9, 32 bit and 64 bit on the same computer running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, and I couldn't find any performance differences.

My video preview now has only 3 levels.

Under the preview window, there is an icon, 2nd from right.
Mouse over that, it should say "preview quality". Click on that. It gives you a choice of 5 levels, low-medium-high-
and 2 for HD. My HD options are missing. In addition, every time I click produce, it crashes. Now I am re-installing the 64 bit version to see what happens. I always do this before I re-install PD8. Just call me "Charlie". HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Barry... funny you should mention that... during the Beta testing I always had the 5 levels of preview quality, but not since the retail version came out. I was assuming it was now a 64 bit video option, since I have 32 bit it is not there either. __________________________________________

Well, V9 in 32bit then 64 bit won't produce anymore. I hit produce and it crashes. Multiple reinstalls, reboot, clean, you know the drill. No one on this forum is nearly as fast as I in doing the cycle. 8 cores allows for a fast procedure. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

I know we’re straying off the Divx topic here. Perhaps a new thread should be started, but…

Same here. I’m on the 32bit version, and during beta testing of the 5 or 6(?) beta builds released, I had all 5 preview quality levels available. When receiving the final build, I now only had 3.
But as was mentioned above, High Quality is also more than adequate for me to monitor my edits. Plus, during beta, I found that using a Full HD preview caused my less than powerful system to struggle when processing my editing commands, while diverting limited resources to also provide a Full HD real time preview.

But, be it a 32bit versus 64bit “thing” or not, something definitely did change between the beta and final releases. Maybe someone could clear up the mystery (if there is one), as it would be interesting to know exactly what it is that makes PD9 determine why any given PD9 user has 3 or 5 levels of preview quality available to them. And why through all the beta builds it wasn’t an issue at all, regardless of bits.

Preview choices - depends upon graphic card capability and if PD9 is re-installed after a new card is inserted - best guess.
