unable to produce video

I have been using Powerdirector 9 for the past 3 weeks. the editing works fine, but I am unable to produce any videos. Every time I produce the program freezes at different parts of my video.
I tried different source materials, I tried with hardware acceleration and without. I tried different export presets.
Nothing works. Tech support is not responding other than "Make sure your drivers are up to date".
My source video is AVCHD recorded with a Panasonic camcorder. I have used Adobe Premier Elements until now and did not have these kind of issues.
I am at the point now to request a refund.

It sounds like I have experienced similar problems. At random times during the production phase, the production simply stops. The program doesn't crash, and the elapsed time and time remaining counts continue to increase. The data written and time through the video do not change and the CPU usage drops from 100% to 0%.

I have the latest PD9 build and video drivers. I found the only reliable way to produce the video was to enable the preview. I have tried twice and it has generated successfully both times. Without the preview I'm running at about a 5% rate of successfully producing a 15min 720p mpeg2 video.

brettkp, MWA123,

I regularly use video files from a Panasonic HD camera. I do not have any troubles editing or producing using PD9.

If you could post the information requested here, http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/13638.page we might be able to figure out what is causing the problems you are having.

This short video was done using Panasonic HD video, edited and produced with PD9.

Thanks HalCon,

I've upgraded my video card to a GTS-450 from an 8400GS but this hasn't changed anything. With hardware Acceleration enabled or disabled I still have the same problems. Attached are the DxDiag results for both cards and a screenshot of what it looks like. I'm running build 9.0.0.2504 (Ultra64).

I have a few other issues at the moment too:
1) No magic motion templates
2) Unable to connect to Youtube, Flickr or Freesound
3) Random crashes

Cheers,
Brett

I was having the same problem, then I did this:

1. To avoid any compatibility issues, please close all other software and utility applications including virus scans,
screen saver and instant messaging software before you launch \
PowerDirector.

2. Empty the contents of the C:\Windows\temp folder and C:\temp folder, if you have one.
To open temp folder, kindly follow the path:
Click on “Start” -> select “Run” command then type “%temp%” to open the temp folder. Select
all files of the temp folder and delete them.
Empty the 'Recycle Bin' folder. Right click on the Recycle Bin folder and press on Empty folder.

3. Try to burn the project in the lowest possible recording speed to ensure the best quality and the
integrity of the video. This option can be found by selecting Configuration button on the 'Burn' Configuration page.

4. Start Windows in Selective Startup mode, do the following steps:
a. Click on Start.
b. Click on Run.
c. Type “msconfig” and click on OK.
d. A System Configuration Utility window will come up.
e. On General tab, select Selective Startup.
f. Uncheck "Load Startup Items".
g. Click on Apply.
h. Click on OK.
i. Click on Close.
j. It will ask you to restart your computer. Click on "Restart".

5. Update the drivers of your Display card and the Sound card. To update the drivers
I would suggest you to contact the manufacturers of the Display card and Sound cards or visit their website.

6. Please check whether the drive where you have installed PowerDirector software has enough space on it.
For example if you want to burn 5 GB of data on the DVD then you must have 25 GB of free space on your drive.
As a large memory space is required for buffering while burning a DVD.

I am having same issue. Have tried all the mentioned fixes with no luck. Tech support is still working on it. At least now I know I am not the only one.
