When I try to include an audio track from itunes I find that I can pull in anything that I digitized from dvd but can't access anything that was purchased thru the itunes store. I guess, I'm not surprised at this, but I am wondering if this is typical and, if so, is there any way around this?

Thanks

using PD9 deluxe

G'day -

I've never purchased anything from iTunes Store, BUT... other users have found that this procedure works for purchased tracks:

1. In iTunes, go to Edit > Preferences > General > click on Import Settings > Select MP3 encoder or WAV encoder. Click OK a couple of times.
2. Now music that's in your library may already be in a variety of formats. Select the track you want to use.
3. Right click on it & select "Create MP3 version" (or WAV).
4. Drag the converted file to the desktop (or wherever you want). It copies the file. iTunes does what other conversion software does (as long as your preferences are set as described above).
5. In PD, import the converted file.

Hope that helps - Tony

Kiaser, are you running Windows? You should have a folder on your computer that holds all your iTunes music [mine is in my My Music folder.] All I have needed to do was import the file from that location, and PD 9 Ultra 64 has read it fine. Maybe you're running a different OS?

I am running Windows7 64-bit.

EDIT: To be more clear, I am having no problems with importing .m4a files.

Maybe that's one of the differences between PD 9 Ultra and PD 9 deluxe?

Simply copying the desired track (be it MP3 or M4A) to a separate folder to import into PD works - also for me.

Having said what I said previously, I've since tested .m4a files downloaded from iTunes & just wanted to confirm that (here) PD has no issues at all with importing & editing these files.

As Michael & SnowBlades have stated, importing these files directly from C:\Users\your name\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\artist name\album name - or wherever your files are stored - presents no difficulties.

... which makes the procedure I outlined before unnecessary (for some of us).

Kiaser - are the files you're importing the same as regular iTunes downloads? That is, MPEG-4 Audio files with an .m4a file extension?

Cheers - Tony
