I now have 8gb memory. Is this enough to work with HD video files or will I be wasting my money to add another 8GB. I am running Windows 7 64 bit OS.
Would I be better off updating my Video card. I now am using a Radeon 5450 1gb.
Or would I need to upgrade both memory and video card?
PD9 crashes sometimes when I am using several HD files at once,

I have 8gb of memory and have no issue with multiple HD files, I read somewhere, just can't remember where, that you need Win 7 Pro or Ultimate to make max. use of available memory, I don't think that increasing your memory will achieve much, unless like me your brain needs a kick start.

You need a 64-bit version of Windows to use more than 4GB (somwhat less, actually) of memory. Anything more is wasted. Jerry Schwartz

If one looks at the memory utilization meter on Windows when executing multiple HD files I rarely see more than 4 Gb being used, and that includes ALL programs running at the time.

Same here. I cannot use more than 30% of my 12 GB of memory regardless of how many subtracks, multiple 2GB clips, special effects, etc. I am able to watch HD video, burn a DVD, surf the internet, and produce super large HD videos. Win 7 Pro 64 bit and PD( Ultra 64.
