I couldn't resist the temptation any longer and wanted those nice PD9 features. I've had no trouble with PD8, but I purchased the PD9 upgrade and need some advise. The upgrade went smoothly....I installed the upgrade, the content pack, and the 3 patches, taking me to PD9 version 2504. The installation went flawlessly.

Here's what happened.....I dragged the video clip into the Timeline....I split it a few minutes into the clip......I inserted a color board on the video track.....I clicked on the video clip that is just to the right of the point of split.....then I got the message that 'PowerDirector has stopped working', see attachment. I tried several time, same results.

I keep my system current with Windows Updates. The Video Driver is current. I believe that everything else is current.

I was able to this this with PD8 and a lot more, but PD9 doesn't like something. Hopefully it's something simply, so I wanted to reach out to the forum for some input before I begin my journey with Tech Support.

I don't know how to get a small clip of my video to provide here (I'm open to ideas). So, I just attached a screen capture of the properties. Finally, attached is the DxDiag file.

Thanks,

Art

Curious - I see you have a video capture card.

Are the files you are using by chance a .wtv capture with Media center or perhaps using another capture program with the capture card?

There is a newer driver from Nvidia if you want to try that.

That was an old attempt to read in my VHS tapes. Now I use another software and it creates AVI files. Yes, I went to Nvidia and seen that there is a new driver. I downloaded and installed it. I tried PD9 again and I seem to have gotten past the 'split' problem. Now the 'pointer' doesn't always show the picture in the preview window. I have to drag it to the beginning, then it works, then it shows a blue screen when going to the next clip. Frustrating!

I think I'll just shut things down for the day, sleep on this and try again tomorrow

Thanks for the feedback.
