PowerDirector is crashing when I try to burn the dvd to a folder.

It doesn't matter whether or not I use a custom menu or a preloaded one. If I remove the menu, it works fine. I have 7 chapters in my project.

Below is the error message from the event log:

Faulting application PDR9.exe, version 9.0.0.2504, time stamp 0x4d22033a, faulting module L3CODECX.AX, version 1.9.0.311, time stamp 0x36e8006c, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00001f31, process id 0xd58, application start time 0x01cbbb4535dedb4d.

Thank you.

when I went to burn the dvd the program crashed (error messages from the event viewer are in the first post).

I experimented and the same thing happened whether I used one of the default menus or the one I was trying to create.

However when I say to burn the DVD without no menu it burns fine.

version number and diag file are in the second

What else should I send?

thanks

His DXdiag file says it all. Sorry Raizy, you may take a look to program specifications before you enter on. Maybe some little changes in your computer can help you right now.

thanks, I wanted to install it on a different (newer) computer (see http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/15490.page) but it wouldn't install there.

I was able to create the video on this one and burn a menu-less dvd.

I'm surprised that creating the DVD menu is that intensive, but if it is it is.

thanks again

I don't know if it matters, but I downloaded a newer version of k-lite codecs and now it gets an error message instead of crashing.

message is:
Burning unsuccessful
Error code e80070057
The parameter is incorrect

again, only when there is a DVD menu

creating a DVD without a menu works fine (both cases are writing to a folder not a DVD drive)

thank you

I don't know if anyone is still following this, but if I delete all of the chapter marks, it burns with the menu

Raizy - I am having the same problem, you may have helped me with a work around. PDR9 stops at 21% with this error:
powerdirector burning unsuccessful error code: eC000002F. I upgraded my laptop to 8 GB, added another HD, did all the updates - graphics card etc...still fails. Runnng HP dv71020us, win7-64 intel centrino 2..yada yada. I was able to burn a BD on an old hp desktop win 7/64 4gb that has an AMD chip - no problem at all. I am trying the no menu thing right now....there goes the professional looking DVD. Burning to folder is great for saving DVDs..... I wonder if it is an intel/AMD/Menu problem???? DJ Steadman,

Well after 6 hours (8 gb folder size) and no menu I got a good DVD folder burn on my intel laptop. Now I am going to transfer my pds file over to my AMD desktop and add the menu back in and try for a full disk burn....This has worked before on the AMD desktop even with a BD. Is there a known issue with the intel chip causing DVD menu problems? Included attachments, error message snap shot and Dx report. I am running PDR9u64 9.0.0.2504.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Laptops and editing video is not a good mix. They are catching up and maybe a brand new top of the line gaming laptop may work, but your normal 2 year old laptop will struggle at best. If you are just cutting something out and producing a video may work but as soon as you start getting fancy it will really struggle if at all.

Video editing is about the most stressful thing you can do on your computer. My youtube channel====> http://www.youtube.com/user/relate2?feature=mhsn

@Robert2 S...I understand what you are saying about laptops vs desktops for video editing, not the case here, the desktop is about 7 years old, has 4 gb of memory but only 3.4 is useable, that's how old it is. The laptop has 8GB, the project was HD and just under 2 hours. I still believe it is a software bug related to DVD menus and the intel CPU chip. I removed the dvd menu and got a good burn on my newer/faster intel cpu laptop. No problems on the older/slower AMD desktop. The last attempt would always fail at 21% when trying to burn a 8.4gb DS DVD on the intel based laptop and at 99% when trying to burn a BD. Removed DVD menu - got a good burn - same project on the older/slower AMD based desktop, no problems with dvd menu and a good burn - DS DVD or BD didn't matter. All I use are laptops these day, I usually upgrade every 3 years or so, I'm not due for another 1 year

One last tip dj, try burning your project to a folder and either use PD to burn to disc. You don't even need to drop your project to the timeline, just open PD and go straight to "Create Disc" or a different program to do the burning.

If you don't the option to burn blu-ray to folder there is a work around mentioned on this forum. I don't have a link but a search should find it.

Cheers

I also get an error (eC000002F) when burning a project to a 4.7 GB DVD. It occurs at 21 percent into the authoring process. Another very similar project with a DVD menu burns fine. I am using a desktop, not a laptop. I have not found a solution to the problem.

I'm experiencing a problems and am ready to go to another product. Despite several back and forth emails from Cyberlink's no-help desk, it's time to ask for some help elsewhere.

Using PowerDirector 8 Deluxe. Was better off with earlier version.

After many successful experiences, i have now come to a problem with the authoring of creating discs.

Using Windows 7 - Have 174 G of space

Receiving error message "Power Director could not construct the media source as a graph. This may be due to a lack of decoding filters for the file you are trying to edit.

System quits.

started with a new project and same problem.

At the direction of the help person, I upgraded all the drivers. ($30.00) with a program.

No different result.

Peforming a 3rd project right now and eliminated my music and now a 64% authoring - but this has taken an hour so far.

Upon complete failure the other error message states: Burn unsuccessful Possible causes - AuthoringMgr could not do file access for temp files.

Help

My PowerDirector 12 crashes when accessing Create Disk, Menu Preferences and choosing the No Menu graphic. When pressing "Apply To All Pages", PowerDirector 12 immediately closes. I previously used PowerDirector 11 and did not have this problem. Using Windows XP Pro. LAG
