Dickflyfisherman,

Here are a couple of videos you can have a look at.

This one is SD footage that was enhanced to HD in PD8. Camera is a JVC Everio. (720X480)

This one is HD footage produced to 1920X1080 in PD9. Camera is a Panasonic HDC-TM20 (1920X1080)

Dickflyfisherman,

I am pretty sure I got that camera for just under $500.00 Canadian at FutureShop.

There are many brands and models to choose from. Check out this thread and you will see the range of cameras that are available and in use. I am sure there are cameras in all price ranges.

Yes you can enhance the SD video and there is a noticable difference, but not near what you can get with the HD camera. You have to experiment with the enhancement settings to see what you will get in the end. Then produce to a high quality file. Try a few different profiles and types to find the one that suits you. If my memory is correct, I think I use the mpg2 at (HDV) 720p when I produce the SD files for use in a HD production.

I still use the SD camera for different angle shots or highlight spots, ie: single player focus. For any special effects or slow motion I use the HD footage.

And yes, this forum is great for getting assistance and information.

Don't buy anything but a Full HD Camera. If you don't you are wasting your money. Windows 8 Pro 64bit
Cameras. Panasonic AG-HMC40, GoPro Hero 3 Black
Edition.
