In order for us to give you any advice, please provide the following information

1. What version and build of PowerDirector [or other CyberLink software] are you using? PART A. If you're unsure which or what - ASK.
2. Please can you supply and attach a DirectX Diagnostic of your system? PART B.
ATTACHMENT GUIDE
3. Please can you attach a screen shot of your Edit workspace, showing the content, make up of the library, all media tracks and with individual file extensions clearly readable? PART F.
REFER to the guides: PART A, B & F

Hi and thank you for your response. First let me tell you I unistalled it already. Now, I will install it again, but, I have always wondered, is it better to install it from the downloadable version or from the purchased CD? And after installing, are there any updates or patches I should install as well? Second, this is what you requested, I think :

Your third request I cannot do now, since I don't have the program anymore installed.
When I install the PowerDirector 9 Ultra 64,I also wonder, it says "upgrade to from version7/8. Version 8 should be isntalled first?...I did that in one of the occassions, but I don't know if it's necessary.
Thanks a million!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Princesa,

I can't help you solve the problem, but what I can say is that my computer model and internal configuaration is exactly the same as yours. I upgraded from PD-8 Ultra to PD-9 Ultra. The program is running perfectly.

Hopefully you will get PD-9 to work flawlessly on your machine as well. When you do, please let us know what was causing the problem. Good luck with finding a quick solution Princesa.

Your computer is 2 years old, when did you last update the video drivers, if you have the AMD Radeon card the current version driver is 10.12

I am still frustrated, more frustrated I should say. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times PDR9, I have updated the drivers, I even purchased a program that does that. I don't know what else to do. Now, the computer I guess is hurting for all the changes back and forth, because it definetely doesn't work as it did before this big mess. I uninstalled PDR9. I guess I'll take the computer to a technician and hopefully get it working properly. And unfortunately,I won't be using PDR9 until they find solutions. I will send a letter to Cyberlink.

Hi there

a few things to try,
1 turn off windows user control go to start system control panel and near the bottom of the page you will see user control turn this off
2 turn off your antivirus and firewall, close all other programs come of the internet and try again,

get the latest download for PD9 and have it on your desktop install your PD9 first then reboot before you do the update

are you loading files from D.V.D. or desktop.

this is only a few things you can try, you could also copy all the files off the D.V.D. and try installing from desktop.
make sure you have show all files enabled, go to control panel files & folders along the top you will see view tick show all
files have a go what have you got to loose

Hello Tom!..Thank you so much for your suggestions. I have spent the last 5 days dealing with this, and I have a busy week ahead, so I will save your instructions and give it a try. Now, I have a question re:
"get the latest download for PD9 and have it on your desktop".....you mean the latest update for PDR in the Cyberlink site?.......
Thank you, all the thigs you said, I haven tried, so I might as well, but I cannot do until later in the week, it might even be better, I am kind of confused and stuck, I think I need time to start fresh dealing with this. It seemas that everything I do, I get the scenario in worse shape...=((((
Thank you!

Hi Princesa,

I have updated the drivers, I even purchased a program that does that.

This caught my attention. What program did you purchase that updates your drivers? I am not aware of a program that can go to either Nvidia , AMD, Intel, or other graphic card manufacturer and then automatically input your specific graphic card, Operating system and then select the proper drivers without your input. So this peeked my interest.

The DxDiag file you posted was abbreviated and didn't list your Graphic card or Driver version(did I miss it somebody?) So in my mind, you may still be using "old" drivers and this may be the cause of your ongoing problem. So if you could save your DxDiag file as a text file to your desktop, then ATTACH the whole thing in your next post, we could verify that the driver part of the equation has been eliminated as "up to date".

Just a guess mind you....but I keep rereading this topic and that is what keeps popping into my head...."Are her graphic drivers really up to date?"

Regards,

Kevin

Hi there!...Captain, I posted my specifications. The programs I used to scan the drives are called "DriverUpDate" and Pareto Logic Driver Cure. Tom, I did what you advised, but then my Product Key wouldn't work, maybe I should activate it before I do the the rebuild?.....
I just unistalled the program again. =((((((

Your drivers are indeed up to date..thanks for the info.

1. Ok...so you downloaded the update patch as Tomthumb had suggested and now it won't accept your product key? That is strange because the patch should update the version you have on your system and a key should not be required.

2. So at this point Power Director 9 is not on your system? If it isn't then install your original version you purchased...activate it...close it down....then install the update patch 2504.

3. One question that I can't find an answer from reading this topic that is VERY important. It sounds like you had it running and were attempting to upload a project to YouTube but was unsuccessful. I am interested to know what you are using for your source video in your project. Is it from a camera? if so, what is the make? Model. It is very possible that eh video you are using is causing the problem and not Power Director 9 itself.

A simple test would be to place the sample nature.mpg clip on the timeline a few times...then select PRODUCE...then select the YouTube tab and upload this very basic video project and see if you are successful. If it is, then it may then point to your video that you are using as the source of your problem. Then we would need to investigate in more detail what you are using.

You could always upload a short 5-10 second sample clip right out of your camera and attach it in you next post.

Kevin

I have been having similar problems ever since I started working on my last video project and after installing the update. Previously, Power Direction 9.0 worked flawlessly until one of the above two events took place. Now when it loads the latest project, the loading process really stalls around the 80% point. All previous projects had used the same type of input - a video clip *.avi created by converting VCR tapes with Roxio Video Capture USB.
