Hi Chaps,

I do a fair bit of out door stuff. Up to now I have used a home made wind cutter involving foam and rubber bands which was quite effective but kept falling off. (see first photo)

I just purchased (cheaply) online a customised product which I have put onto my newer camera. (second photo). It is somewhat less conspicuous and works better than the first home made effort.

Any other solutions out there? What do others use?

pjc3, the way the wind cutters work is the fluffier the cover the better, that is why the bought accessory works better than the foam even though it is smaller.

I use really fluffy white foam around the mic in my helmet for my hanggliding videos and can get clear audio up to around 50 MPH.

I use a 'cat' supplied by Dafydd when I was in Wales in 2009, ask Dafydd for the proper name of the product, I know it is readily available.

I believe your camera has an external mic jack.

Does Panasonic have a specific external mic for your camera?

If not, there is an array of microphones you can use and even more microphone wind socks/windscreens/fluffys.
