I'm a newbie, currently using PD 9 trial version and everything worked fine up to the last step where I tried to get a nicer menu more suitable for my DVD on kids and downloaded 2, clicked on it to activate it but they don't show up at all under Menu Preferences Downloaded.
Also tried to click on the button which says Downloaded and I get a message which says You"re trying to use a feature that requires a web browser on this system. Install and enable a web browser on your PC and try again. I have IE and Mozilla on my computer already.
What do get the menu to be available for use in PD 9 ?
Thanks in advance

Hi Genny123

I not sure because I've never used a trail version however:

Is the download from Directorzone?

What is the aspect ratio of your project 16:9 or 4:3?

What is the aspect ratio of the download?

Basically; these two ratios MUST be the same.

If you did download it from Directorzone they have a forum as well.

Good luck

I suspect that one of those two browsers is not set up as the default browser for your computer. Try going to Control Panel, select 'Programs', then 'Set your Default Programs'. Select a browser (preferably Mozilla) then click 'Set this program as default'.

The above assumes Windows 7, but it will be similar for other versions of Windows.

For the browser problem - I have set Mozilla as default but it still doesn't work when I click on the downloaded globe.

Can't see downloaded menu problem - just realised that the menu I downloaded is a DZP file and the PD 9 trial version under menu files selection can only select *.DZM files. So how do I get DZM files from where ? and why can't it "see" and use DZP files ? Is it because its a trial version?

All I want is a nice menu for kids ! All they have in the trial version is one with a couple kissing and one with a travelling bicycle !

I've had succes downloading lots of things. I use Microsoft's Internet Explorer though. Once I click the download button, I will click save to the default folder that comes up. Once it is downloaded, your supposed to click 'open' when that option pops up. Click 'open' is what puts it directly into PD9 from what I can tell.

I read the directions to download things the first time and i'm fairly sure this was what it said to do. It could be an issue with the browser your using. May want to change to Microsoft's Internet Explorer and give it a try to see if it works that way.

Just a thought.

-Max

Edit: I believe I was able to do the same thing when I was using the trial version, so I'm guessing that isn't the issue. Are you downloading it and saving it in the default directory the PD9 wants to install in or are you doing a custom download? I still would consider trying the entire process in Internet Explorer a few times to see what happens.

Hi genny,

I might be wrong...but a dzp file is an object or particle effect. A dzm file is a menu file. In order to "see" a dzp file...you need to have the Power director set up in the same aspect ratio as what you downloaded. If you downloaded a 16:9 aspect ratio object, then PD also needs to be set to that in order for you to find it in the Objects Room. To change your project aspect ratio...select EDIT...then select ASPECT RATIO...and then choose the aspect ratio that matches what you are looking for. So it sounds from your description that it isn't a menu. Could you provide a link to the menu you were trying to download so we can verify it?

Regards,

Kevin

,dzm is a menu file. You can go directly to Director Zone and create an account I believe and download there.

Thanks everyone for being so helpful.

I am downloading it from Mozilla, saving it wherever it tells me to and then clicking it and then something pops up to say its ready for use etc. Then I go to PD and cannot "see" or use it.

I cannot download it from PD9 menu page which keeps saying I don't have a browser.

This is the link I downloaded from directorzone.

Another one I downloaded
http://directorzone.cyberlink.com/detail/8403
I got to that page from searching children menu and then choosing it. I chose 4:3 which is the same as my project.
Both can't be "seen" on the menu template even though I downloaded it, double clicked it and got a message which says something like it can now be used in PD.

Genny

I think I downloaded the wrong thing. Don't even know what a PIP is. Somehow I got to this download after search on director zone for menu children and assumed this was a dvd menu. Guess its back to search. Thanks everyone.

Genny
