Absolutely!

Put the second video in a second track. Double click it to bring up PIP designer. Second tab for "path". Select no path. Then change the size and position of the clp for the beginning and end.

Yes it is possible using the pip designer and using key frames.

Just double click on your video on the timeline and go to the tab with a light bulb and arrow and have fun.

hey thanks guys,this is going to take some time to master !

it doesn't seem to be expanding nearly fast enough. What I ultimately want to do is expand one box while decreasing the size of second box in the other corner. I want to have two people explaining what's going on in a slide show,while one is talking the other box diminishes in size and then when the other person is talking his box quickly grows in size while the other one becomes smaller.....

can anyone tell me if I can make a fast expanding or shrinking video box ? All I can get is one that does so at a snails pace.

Have you played around with the keyframes? Add a keyframe earlier in the track and expand the video up to desired size at that keyframe? Panasonic SD9, Panasonic TM700, Panasonic SD600, GoPro HD Hero.

Watch the window on the right hand side of this short clip. I think it is the effect you are looking for. Adjusting the timing for when and how fast the clip expands is not really difficult.

Ignore the left side, something I am still working on.

You're probably right, Barry.
It might have been put together in PD, but I think the clips (PIPs) have been
worked out elsewhere....

Aside from that, working with keyframes in modify-window and
a couple of tracks should do it.
My advice would be to work inside the grid-lines to start with.

I have watched the video and have to say I'm impressed and it is good use of PD9's capabilities.

Adrian and I were working on an idea and this morning I created the Parallelogram in PD9 in about one eighth of the time we'd both tried last night on a different method.

I've used png overlays previously to create a similar effect in PD, what did you use Hal?

For my own parallelogram I used the Effect "Swing" and held the motion using the keyframes. I then adjusted the PiP itself and added surround and reduced in size.

It is good to have fun in PD. The Swing effect is brilliant as far as I'm concerned.

As Hal was demonstrating the movement of a box (PIP), asking if that was the hoped-for end result, the focus was not so much on the program at that moment, as it was the end product.
Many of us use a 2nd NLE as part of our arsenal, but I think we all assemble in PD, so I was a bit surprised at the hullaballoo, that being said, it's a very cool result. I love it. I will be poking about "SHWING" effect later today.

I have also asked for a tutorial, Dafydd, especially about the reflection -
and how you can get that to happen within PD.
I have an idea...but it would sure be nice if a tutorial was availible at some point.

I will be posting my procedure once I get home. It may be the morning before I can compile all the info and the screenshots to demonstrate. I do not have screen capture for video so it will be in the format of stills and directions.

I have not completed the section with the reflection as yet. That is why I mentioned in my first post to ignore the video on the left of the screen. It is not completed yet. I just put that piece up to demonstrate the effect that I created in PD9 for the OP.

I have looked at your "Swing" - produced, tried to change size -;

the upper and lower line of the parallelogram stays jagged/choppy ( I cannot find another word in
any of my 2 dictionaries) however I try to change it.

What am I missing here?

OK Nina, I know what you mean.

The evenly stepped pixel edge of a diagonal is an unavoidable consequence of the display - unavoidable.

A video has insufficient pixels for you as an editor not to notice the edge, however that same edge when viewed on a TV would be less intrusive and likely not to be viewable from 5+ feet (1.5 metres).

The same stepped edge happens to all diagonals and in all editing programs - it is as stated a result of the frame size/pixel count of the screen.
