PD9 Transitions

Hi,
I'm having trouble with some transitions. What I want to do is a simple cross dissolve or mix. The CROSS option does not work. I have plenty of vid on both pieces of vid. The "dissolve" starts with the lead vid zooming in and going to about 50% level (nearing black). The vid coming out does another zoom out. Most other transitions are OK. I've checked quite a few. One that doesn't work is AIRPLANE, though when I hover over the icon with the mouse, the "effect" animates. But when I put it on the timeline, nothing but black.

Also, how the heck do you change transition lengths? I had PD7 previous to this, and it was on the timeline as an option. And it wasn't grayed out on the dropdown of options.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

This caught me as well - but I resorted to the tutorials and you just have to click and drag the transition to lengthen or shorten from whatever length you set in your preferences.

"Update your DirectX files."

Thanks for the replies.I wish I knew how to update the DirectX files. Can you steer me in the right direction? Thanks very much.

If this doesn't work, can I reinstall PD9? I downloaded it a month ago. Hopefully I can grab it again. To me, it sure looks like a bit of corruption of that file. Of course, deleting and reinstalling could bring on more issues.
