Verified that the latest driver from AMD/ATI 10.12 conflicts with Power DVD 10 HD AUDIO track-

To fix: Run 10.12 install again but choose custom uninstall and only check the HD AUDIO Driver box. uninstall then

GOTO AMD drivers, at the bottom of the 10.12 driver page choose previous drivers

Select driver 10.11, run custom install and choose only HD AUDIO Driver (I did Catalyst also because I don't like the new one)

after complete Start>Restart AMD runtime which will reload AMD/ATI drivers (If you don't see or get this option then just restart)

Presto- POWERDVD will now allow you to choose the DTS HD, TRUE HD etc Audio track- and yes, it sounds better.

You can also just install the drivers directly from realtek (after uninstalling the 10.12 AUDIO drivers)

Why would you do that? Use the verified by AMD/ATI official drivers made for you product. Sure, it may be the same thing but better to have a "one-stop shop" solution than to advise people to search various sites when all can be achieved at one- PLUS, my solution is tried and verified- I haven't tried yours so I will not comment but if you feel your solution may be better than perhaps you should start a new thread advising such and quit hijacking others.

I stand by my solution and know it works at least until AMD/ATI release 10.13, which then I will give a shot. People like you are the ones that add to the confusion and create more problems.

wow... hard to get why you were all offended but you need to settle down a bit. we're all trying to help each other here.

just offering alternatives - and yes it works, as others in other threads have stated as well. I wouldn't suggest it otherwise.

mixing versions of drivers from the same vendor vs different vendors isn't adding confusion or creating more problems. Its potentially more error prone to mix versions of nearly identical installation packages anyway.

Installing the realtek drivers (which are what ATI uses anyway) is easy as its audio only, and doesn't interfere with anything else going on. I added here for alternative version for people to try when they search and encounter the thread. Thats not hijacking.

As said- as with many issues that may arise with software there will often be many fixes- I am only stating one that I know works- you have one that you claim works so make a thread about it. People then can read about my solution and yours separately without confusion, but now you've diluted this thread with speculation I can't confirm nor care to since the fix I offer is tried and true.

This method is called thread hijacking. It is offensive and you should be more considerate.
