fast motion with a funny sound

Hi, everyone!

I have got a new computer with i7, 12GB of RAM and so on... So I have downloaded a trial version of Power Direct 9 Ultra 64 to see what kind of animal it was.

I used to work with PD8 before, so it was not a big change for me, but to my disappointment my .MPG files from a Sony camera were playing only in fast motion with a funny sound. All my attempts to slow down the speed have not delivered any good result. However, the same files work perfectly on Power Director 8.

Anyone knows what the problem could be?

Tnx,

Antanas

OK, Please supply the 3 basics as laid out in the guides below. In addition I'd like you to supply a 5 to 10 second sample of your video - unedited and straight from your camera, attach it to your reply. I'd also like the full name and model number of the camera you have.

The sample is important - please provide it.

Thanks

Dafydd

1. I am using - PowerDirector Trial 9.0.0.2330a, SR number VDE 101118-06.
2. I have attached: txt file with the DirectX Diagnostic of my system, the screen shot of my Edit workspace and one sample of my video, unedited.
3. I could not find the number on the camera that I use, can only provide the model number - Cyber-shot W80

Thank you,

Antanas

Thank you for trying, but it does play when other video editing software (even PowerDirect 8 ) or player is used.

I was also getting weird stutter on the audio but when editing the audio via PD9(WaveEditor) or selecting "Play Selected Clip in Media Viewer" the audio played just fine. For fun switched the playback mode from Clip to Movie and the audio played fine from the preview. So not sure if this is an issue with the Clip Mode or something else.

Hope that helps some.

Nevermind still plays fast. Was getting a choppy playback at first then after switching from Clip to Movie it played without the choppiness but after comparing playing via Windows Media Player noticed the speed up. Will continue to look to see if I can see anything else.

Can't seem to figure out why PD9's playing so fast on the audio. I extracted the audio out via PD9 and it shows the audio only being 00;00;13;28 instead of the 00;00;27;26 of the original video clip. So I used power tools to slow it down by 0.5 and it seems to play at the right speed. So there seems to be something amiss on how PD9 sees the audio portion of this video file compared to other programs.

Not sure where else to look. Sorry.

Hi

I can also confirm the clip DOES NOT play well in PD9 and agree with others that the sound speeds up etc.

I think that the problem can be the video files produced by my old camera, because:

1. I was unable to make a DVD from the files (tried two different DVD makers)
2. I was unable to convert them into a different format

So, today, I bought a new camera - Sony DSCWX5B, was going to start filming in HD anyway.

I'm having the same/similar problem when trying to import an MPG movie clip from my camera (on win7Professional, both 32b and 64b, PD 9.0.0.2330a). Audio sounds like chipmunks.

On closer examination I noticed that the imported audio is exactly half the duration of the clip itself. If I use CyberLink WaveEditor I can get back to some semblance of the original track by these steps:

Distortion > Change Speed > 0.5x

Distortion > Pitch Shift > -6

Distortion > Ptich Shift > -6

The project I'm working on consists of a .AVI video on one video track followed by some still pictures and the problematic MPEG clips on a 2nd audio track.

I do get a 'converting from PAL to NTSC' warning when I bring in the MPEG clips. Also, in WaveEditor it tells me it's converting a mono track into a stereo track.

The MPG clips play fine in Windows Media Player - no audio problem.

Here are the MPG characteristics (from Media Info)
