Stops Producing at same exact percentage every time

Hello,
When I try to produce a movie, it always stops at exactly 20%. Power Director doesn't freeze; I can still click buttons and cancel it. It just stops producing. I've tried producing .mp4 and also uploading to YouTube. Same results.

Can anyone help?

Here are the details:

PD 9 (Latest update)
Dual core processor
3 Gb RAM
SATA drive with 300 GB remaining
NVIDIA 6200 LE (Latest drivers)

The video file is .wmv, about 8 minutes long

Welcome to the forum.

Check your video/PIP track to see what (if any) affect, transition, photo, video clip etc is at that point and remove it and then try again.

Hi, thanks for the fast reply and the welcome. At that point, there are no effects or anything at that point other than the one video clip that is playing from the beginning.

It's an audio and video .wmv created by my client using one of those web conferencing screenshot services.

All I did was edit some parts out and added a title at the beginning. But the producing stops well after the title.

I meant to say: what type of video file are you trying to convert to ? Are you producing from WMV to WMV or to another video format ? Win 10, i7

Good. Do you know what the specs are for the WMV file ? You can get that bt right clicking the video file when it's on the timeline. Win 10, i7

Yes, that's right. Produce as in exporting.

OK. I noticed that the aspect ratio of the two files is not identical. Using the trim tool, try to produce a very short (about 30 seconds) test file and see how it goes. This file will be useful for determining what it is that is causing your hang at 20 %. Don't give up - there are quite a few of us looking at this forum. If I can't help some one else will. Win 10, i7

It produced without a hitch and is now uploading to YouTube.

Not to be too pedantic, but you can also "export" under file-export-pack your project.

I would use the word "burn" to DVD disc or folder, and "produce" to hard drive.

With so many options these days it is hard to know exactly what steps people are doing to "render" their videos.

I attempted to produce a movie that I trimmed to about 10 seconds after the part where it hangs, and it hangs at the same exact spot.

Okey doke, thanks. I just used the word "export" because I'm used to using that word for that kind of process. I've never used the export process in PD. I'll pick my words more carefully next time for clarity's sake.

Your source video file may have some digital artifacts that PD9 does not like (PD is not great with giving the user much error feedback). You may be able to remove the offending section by using the multi-trim option.

Is the preference option "Enable HD video processing" enabled on your PC ? You try disabling it and see if it changes things. Win 10, i7
