Downloading PD 9 Protocol
[Post New]
I see on the Cyberlink website that they recommend disabling any firewall and anti-virus programs before downloading PD 9. I can’t imagine being on the internet with a Windows machine, even for a short time, while having these programs disabled. I am I too paranoid? Redwing Roger

My suggestion would be to only do that if downloading is not working. I must say I have downloaded PD 6-7-8 & now 9 without ever turning off my firewall or virus.

I to would be wary about disabling my firewall and anti-virus software. My youtube channel====> http://www.youtube.com/user/relate2?feature=mhsn

It's not necessary with Windows 7. All versions and updates to PD8 and now PD9 work quite well using standard windows settings. There is no need to lower your defences at any time. Win 10, i7

Hi,
I select the save button when downloading, and then run install as 'Adminisrtor' access with all firewalls disabled, then turn back on when install finishes to register the program, also this prevents any anti virus spyware from blocking some dll files being installed.

I have not had to do any of the procedures that you mentioned. In Windows 7 it's not an issue. PD9 downloads and load without a hitch. Win 10, i7

I'll keep the firewall and AV enabled and just go ahead with the download. Granted, there may be some potential but unlikely chance of a conflict created by those programs but a much higher risk of inviting trouble with them disabled. Redwing Roger

I had no trouble downloading the patch, but on my Windows XP Pro SP3 system, I wasn't able to install the latest patch until I disabled my anti-virus. There was a certain DLL (can't remember name now) that was causing a problem, and the installation was aborted. After disabling Norton 360 anti-virus, the installation succeeded.

Norton is notorious : while many others are not. I use AVG. No problem with downloads. CL is issuing the warning 'cause they want you to download properly. Also as many others have said no issues with Windows 7. Run as administrator downloads happen like a breeze.
