Audio Question

How does one save a portion of an audio tract that has been "split" from the video track. I would like to save it in a file to use in other pd projects, but when I in the pd edit screen I don't see the option. I tried right clicking the split audio track to copy, but I not sure how to get it onto my pc hardrive as its own file.

Thank you for any suggestions.

While the clip is in the Library I have/know how to Extract Audio and save a wav.file.....

But,, I'm refering to a audio clip that has been edited down in the Audio Track, not the entire length of the audio file.
My last effort was just to remove everything but the edited audio track and produce it. This gave me a file, but it is not an audio file (type). Need an audio file for such things as back ground music for DVD menu / when creating dvd disc.

Hi Craig123,

You wrote:

That’s probably because you “produced” it to a video file format.

- In PD8, go to Produce, then choose WMV.
- At the Profile Type drop down menu, you will find 3 audio profiles to choose from.
- Choose one of these audio only profiles, and it will produce your edited audio track to a WMA (Windows Media Audio) file.
Then, if you wish, you can take this audio file to an audio conversion program to convert it to another audio format like Mp3, WAV, etc.
In PD9, there is an Audio Only profiles section in Produce, that has additional profile options.

Hi Craig123,

If you find that the bit rates available in the WMA profiles are too low for your liking, there is also a second option.
Just produce your edited audio to a video file, placing say a black color board, or image, or anything in the video track.
Open Produce and choose a video profile who’s audio and video profiles are customizable. This way you could choose a higher bit rate for the audio portion than what the WMA profiles may provide.
Then once this video file (that you only really want the audio from), is produced and in your library, simply right click on this newly produced scratch video file, and choose Extract Audio. This will give you an uncompressed WAV audio file of your edited audio, which was produced at a higher audio bit rate.
