So I drag the Smart Sound clip into the music track. I go to Create Disc and now when I hit preview the music portion of the project does not play.
Also Background music/First play videos and Playback mode is grayed out. I can't select any options there.

Am I doing something wrong? Mr Bevan will prob. ask for screen shots..lol. Still have not downloaded program to do that in acceptable file format to post yet. I had issues with PD8 freezes and jitters when reaching transition points in edit mode. That seems to have been fixed in PD9. Now when Creating Disc I am having some issues.

Also I have lots of Smart Sound clips that I can preview in edit but cannot drag to timeline. Is that normal??

Can't help you with your main questions but all you need to use for a screen shot is Windows Paint.

1. Hit "prt scr" button on your keyboard.

I created new project and quality was great but some pixelation and jittery spots can be seen. Also the Smart Sound clip did not burn. WHY??

The rest. Anyone have any suggestions?? Should I do recovery of my whole system and reinstall PD9?? I don't know what else I should try. I have been in contact via online support about my issues and so far nothing he suggested is working. I thought upgrading to PD9 would help. It did as far as editing. That is good. But now I have Disc Burning issues and Smart Sound problems. Help!!! Are we there yet?

Someone just recently had some success with updating their video drivers. I noticed that yours are 3 months old and Nvidia has just released new drivers for 400 series video cards. It may be worth updating your video drivers.

One other thing I thought all but one or two of the smart sound files you have to pay for. Did you get any notice about payment?

I checked the new video card update and it basically is related to certain game optimizations. Not sure how that will help with the Disc Burning issues and the Smart Sound clips not recording from project. There are many Smart Sound clips I can preview but not drag to time line. I assume those you have to pay for to use. I am talking about the ones I can actually drag into the time line.

Now, I stand to be corrected here but looking at your DxDiag your C: drive is 60Gb with approx 17Gb free space, PowerDirector by default would be installed on C: drive, so any rendering would also be on C: drive.
If this is the case, then this could be part of your problem, for HD rendering PowerDirector require a minimum of 60Gb of free space with a recommended free space of 100Gb. It may be possible to have PowerDirector on your C: drive and render on another, but I think that would be highly unlikely.

Your video drivers are fairly current. We are still looking at the effect of the most recent Nvidia drivers on 64Bit machines and the timeline and preview and would be interested in hearing if they helped for you.

The most current 280.99 includes better handling for HD, GPU utilization and video. We have seen success in resolving some video issues and I suggest you consider this update (recommended by Nvidia). It changed the way PD9 operated on my machine significantly!!

Unless you went ahead and purchased Power Director 9....I think you are using the trial version? Is that right?
So I am taking a guess that you are...the trial version has some limitations that you might be seeing: I don't know exactly what the "Smartsound Library Trial Version" is all about....but it could be related. But usually anything in the smartsound library that is in BOLD print is available....the others are only sample selections....I think the trial just has FEWER selections.

The one you have on your timeline is typically available "Bach Guitar". I did have trouble during Beta testing of not having selections from my smartsound library not being audible in the Disc Creation Area...Is was very inconsistent....But when the Disc burned it was fine....just not in the preview mode.

I just wanted to confirm your preview problem on my rig.

I dragged the bach guitar to the timeline and the sound is fine.....I went to the Create Disc module and selected PREVIEW......the opening menu sequence played and when I selected the test video, it played back but WITHOUT sound....the Smartsound music didn't play.

I then burned to folder....and the sound was still missing.

Sounds like a bug to me.

Thanks Kevin for looking into it. The tech support guy did upgrade me to a full version of PD9 for free. They ran out of ideas i guess regarding the issues I had with PD8, also having purchased PD8 three weeks ago. I had time last night to test out a few changes I made to how windows 7 runs. In Performance Options/Advance Tools I changed my Visual Effects to "Adjust for best Performance". I also disabled indexing on all drives that PD9 uses.

I started PD9 and opened an existing project that I had trouble previewing in Full HD. There were no glitches and the preview was incredibly smooth! Even with the troublesome transitions I was using before. So not only is the editing smooth but the preview issues seem to have been solved also.

Now when I started Create Disc, I still can't here the Smart Sound clip in preview before burning. I assume it will not burn as you demonstrated when you tried to burn disc.

Almost there...so close...lol. Anyone else have ideas why this is happening or anyone have same result?? Are we there yet?

I duplicated your problem and wrote it in my previous post. I think it is a bug and I reported it to Dafydd to relay to Cyberlink R&D.

I opened my PD8 project in PD9 and found that all video clip that have been muted are now unmuted. Have to adjust volume again in my whole project.

update: I also noticed that some clips in main video track has volume at begining 100% and at the end 0% - I didnt do that, PD9 did. PD8 v 8.00.3022 or PD9 trial, C2D E8400, nVidia GF8800 GTS (v260.99), 4GB RAM, WD 640 GB HDD, Windows 7 64-bit

I have the same problem with PD9. When I mute some clips then save the project, when I reload the project all the mutes have gone and I have to start from the beginning again. Very Frustrating. I have only just bought PD, is there something simple I am missing?
