Well this error is getting tiring...
Spent a lot of time preparing a clip and the program crashes whenever I try to produce... Right after choosing to "create a file", "next" - crash...
Are there any patches for this program that might fix this?? (v6)
I'm using it at work and time pressure is becoming a factor... This bug is tiring...

I have had many crashes with pd6. It has crashed when I split a clip or when I stretch one, amoung other various tasks. I am now trying the fixes that tech support said to do such as make sure that I have DIRECT X version 9.0 installed. I'll let you know how things turn out.

Well I also sent requests to support about this...
Asking if there were any patches for PD6...
They sent me a link...
But that installer thing asked me to uninstall PowerDirector 6 first, so I sighed and did... That same installer also uninstalled smartsound, etc, and when all that was done, it got me an error message with "You must have PD4 or later to install this..."
So, beware of the evil patches! lol

One of my friend once had unexpected program crash easily. After discussing with him, we found PD6 installer seems to have problems. If you have PD5 installed already, PD6 installer doesn't uninstall PD5 first but just directly installs and overwrite files in the same program folder.

If you're in this case, I suggest you try uninstall PD6/PD5 completely and install PD6 again.

Btw, to above issue, I read PD6's Readme and found they do put some notice of installation trouble on it. Maybe you can take a look, too.

I didn't run into this because I always manully uninstall current version
first and then install the version I want to use.

Not my case...
Brand new machine for these video editting projects...
So no conflicts possible there...
I think the crashes are caused by mixing too many file types in the same project...
(Even if those files may work seperatly in projects)
