You Tube has increased it's video size to now 15 minutes. Will Power Director update the software to allow for this longer video size?
Here is a piece of the article and I added the link to the YouTube Blog Post below.

Upload limit increases to 15 minutes for all users
We want YouTube to be the best place to upload video. Without question, the number one requested feature by our creators is to upload videos longer than 10 minutes. We’ve heard you, and today we’re pleased to announce that we’ve increased the upload limit to 15 minutes.

In the past, Cyberlink has not been quick to adapt to youtube changes. Since we just had a recent version maintenance release, I would bet this feature won't be available until PD version 9.

Regarding using the built in youtube updater inside PD, I find it much easier to just produce the video the way "I" want it to be and manually uploading it to youtube. My youtube channel====> http://www.youtube.com/user/relate2?feature=mhsn

Which format can I save it to so I can upload to YouTube? Do I just click on Produce Tab and choose my format and click save and then go to that file and upload to youtube?

Thank you in advance

After selecting "Produce" you select the format FIRST, then select the folder you which to save the file, then click "Start".

When I do the "Produce" in PD8 I save the files as .m2ts files which are 1080 High-Definition files. It is referred to as an H.264 AVC in the "file-saving" menu.

There's some great (and very reassuring) information about H.264 at these links below . . .

Youtube partners have not had to comply with the 10 minute limit for some time.
I think that PD should leave the limit issue up to YouTube and not try to police the issue themselves. Or at least tell us where in the configuration files the 10 minute value can be modified.
PD should stay out of the way in trying to enforce YT parameters that they are not going to keep up with!
I say, remove all attempts for PD to enforce YT time limits. If it exceeds the limit, YT will reject it anyway.

The PD8 youtube profiles are way low in the bitrate they use. At least they were. Surprised you are happy with them.

You can create a custom WMV profile yourself that will yield better quality. There are tutorials here to do so.

I use a 3 Mb/sec bitrate for basic 720P without much motion, and bump up to 5Mb or 7Mb if it's a serious motion content in video such as lots panning, action, etc. Win8 64-bit Pro Retail

Ther are 2 values in the registry that may relate to YouTube.

===========================================================
I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU CHOOSE TO ALTER THEM - I HAVE NEVER TRIED IT AND DON'T USE THE PD YOUTUBE UPLOADER.

===========================================================

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cyberlink\PowerDirector\8.0

Key Name

YouTubeSizeLimit >REG_DWORD decimal value 2048
YouTubeTimeLimit >REG_DWORD decimal value 10

Play with them at your own risk!!!

Cheers
Adrian

Just a quick note:

Changing the registry values that Adrian posted worked just fine. I could upload a video longer than 10 minutes without the warning message being displayed.

FYI, If you're running Vista 64 Home Premium the Registry Key is:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CyberLink\PowerDirector\8.0 Power Director 8 ultra on Windows Vista 64 Home Premium on Intel Q6600@2.4gHz w/ 4GB DDR2 Ram on XFX nForce 680i LT SLI Socket 775 Mobo

Thank you all for your response. I looked at both the registry keys and I do not have

Key Name

YouTubeSizeLimit >REG_DWORD decimal value 2048
YouTubeTimeLimit >REG_DWORD decimal value 10

I do have the full
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cyberlink\PowerDirector\8.0

The only thing listed for YouTube is:
Default
YouTube Auto Login
YouTube Password
YouTube UserName

Then under the other key
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CyberLink\PowerDirector\8.0

I do not have Cyberlink listed. I am running Windows7 64bit. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. I even did a search for YouTube in the registry and the above did not show.

Thank you Virginia Cooper

I am afraid that none of the above was useful to me. I have 7 64-bit, and could not find any of the registry files. The only file I found that might be changeable is YouTubeMgr.dll in C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\PowerDirector\runtime\YouTube

Please help!!!

Many thanks.

Honestly Eilidh save yourself a lot of hassle, produce you movie manually to what ever resolution you want and manually upload to youtube.

In the long run it is much simpler and easier, plus if it happens to crash you don't have to try and work out is it PD crashing or the connection to youtube crashing. My youtube channel====> http://www.youtube.com/user/relate2?feature=mhsn

Hi Eilidh

I agree with Robert.

I have never used the PD YT function - just 'produce' your project in a file type that suits you and then go to Youtube (you need a Youtube account) and upload it.

Good luck

Hi Robert & Neil,

I agree.
However, some people also want their videos and timelines to display on Cyberlink's Director Zone Video Gallery, for the extra exposure. And the only way to accomplish that is by using the Youtube uploader in PD. Thus vn800rider's hack above is the viable solution to upload videos longer that 10 minutes.
But didn't PD8's last update patch add the 15 minute limit? I can't remember.

Thanks for the replies. However, if I upload directly to YouTube, I cannot keep the original aspect ratio of my videos without YT resizing them. The best output quality I have found is WMV 9 HD High Quality, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to keep the highest quality output, and still be within YT's guidelines. Using PD is the ONLY way I know of to keep the original aspect ratio. My channel is for videos of my favourite actor (Richard Waugh), and I recently found out (after meeting him - see avatar ) that he knows about my channel. He said he might even use some of them in his demo reels. Because of this, I really need my videos to be as good as they can possibly be. I had uploaded more than a couple of dozen videos without using PD (which I now regret as I am going to have to re-upload them), but if he is going to be using them professionally, then I do not want them being re-sized.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Eildith -

Even though this really is a different topic & you should start another thread...

When you're using the WMV Profiles, check the description box. The WMV HD High Quality one has confused a lot of people.

Its resolution is 1440x1080 (which is usually for videos with non-square pixels). YouTube either doesn't support the display of non-square pixels or just doesn't like them!

If you use WMV 9 HD Standard Quality, it's 1280x720 & will display your video correctly... or you can create your own Full HD profile.

Cheers - Tony
