Moving the Audio Track in PD 8

My video and audio are out of sync and I have found that the solution is to split the audio and video tracks. The task is then to move the audio track to line up properly with the video track. The problem is there seems to be a "snap to" effect at work which does not allow me to move the audio track in very tiny increments. The audio track wants to "snap to" the time line indicator or the beginning of a video track. Is there a way to move the audio track freely in infinity small steps (without it being affected by the "magnetic pull" of nearby objects)? That will allow me to precisely synchronize the video and audio tracks.

If you expand the timeline to frame level you can move the audio track one frame at a time. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Thanks Carl312. How do I get to "frame level" on the audio track. I pushed the little blue timeline expander (bottom lefthand corner of the screen) to its fullest extent but the "snap to" effect was still present. Specifically, step-by-step, how do I get an audio track to frame level so that I can move it incrementally.

Hi David,

If you have your timeline expanded to the fullest, you should be able to count 30 (NTSC) "Tick marks" not sure of the official name...and 25 "tick marks (PAL) to get ONE SECOND on the timeline.

So you can't move your audio track only a 1/2 tick mark, which would be 1/2 a frame. You can only move things on whole frames. PD snaps-to the next available spot that you can move your clips, which is 1 frame.

Does that make sense? You should ba able to sync your audio track adequately with that level of precision. Is this not the case?

Cap'n Kevin, you were right, I can move to the next tick and 1/30th of a second is enough granularity to synchronize the video and audio tracks. Thanks.
