BAM, CRASH ! (PD8)
[Post New]
I'v recently purchased PD8 and it skips and freezes and then BAM, CRASH ! All this while im editing. I have used PD6 ( i think thats what is was) I even upgraded to the one after that and made some really good sport videos of my kids. But i'v tried to uninstall and reinstall PD8 and made sure to uninstall PD6. Im using a standard definition sony disc camera, With a windows vista thats maybe a year old, I'v tried to shorten clips and still the same thing. Football is right around the corner and i need to get the problem solved. Please, Please, help.

Hi Jerry, unfortunately you are not giving us anything to work on. We don't know your system, what you were running etc etc.

This is a very dramatic - if you could do the "please read" from Dafydd someone should be able to help

Hi, first post as I am 5 days into evaluating. I have had several problems similar to the OP where while editing I get freezes and worse I can hear the hard Drive spin down and then crash. Upon re-boot it will go thru a scandisk and recover sectors. I have narrowed it down to either the transitions and or fix lighting or video noise. Last night was the first time I used the program without a crash by only shortening clips and or crop for about a 10 minute movie. I am not at my home pc at the moment, but sill send the specs. I do know that it is an HP Pentium 4 with 2G RAM. Also when I get a chance I will see if I can narrow it further between the effects and or producing to different formats.
Overall I like the program and hope I can get it stable enough to purchase as I have a JVC camera and there are not a lot of options for editing MOD.

Hi Tim,,
No evidence provided BUT (IMO) I have not personally seen any situation where PD8 will damage a disc. It is of course possible that by the very nature of the work the PC is being asked to do it is uncovering a weakness in your system. What version of windows are you using and is the system up to date driver and BIOS wise. Please follow the advice given in the links in Dafydd entry.
