No more shutterstock? No more music?

I just updated Powerdirector 365, and went to download some stock content for my new video. The option for downloading music was gone (except the background music meta and background music options in the PD menu) and Shutterstock seems to be replaced by iStock that doesnt seem do have any music (or option to filter music). Has Powerdirector been downgraded or what has happened?

Thanks, I had missed that. Apparently iStock have music as well, but I see no download option for that in Powerdirector, when searching in the iStock library? Is iStock music not included in PD?

No.

As the linked CL's FAQ states:
"library from iStock by Getty Images to 9 million+ videos and 130 million+ images"
and
"partnership with Meta (Facebook) for background music."

OK, thanks for clarifying it for me. : From my perspective it seems that Powerdirector got worse, but I am hoping that I am wrong.

We won't be in hot water for the videos we have uploaded in Youtube with Shutterstock's music, correct? We're not getting copyright claims or anything I hope.

There appears to be a lot of options from the Meta database so I'm happy, as long as they don't have access to my data.

SmartSound can be installed surprisingly easily.
It comes with a few basic tunes.
Albums on sale are not overly expensive but I see albums on EBay for short money frequently.
Smartsound/Magic Music can be a lot of fun to use, especially as your library grows. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
Nvidia GTX 960(4GB)/16GB DDR3/
Canon Vixia HV30/HF-M40/HF-M41/HF-G20/Olympus E-PL5.
Tape capture using 6 VCR, TBC-1000, Elite BVP4+, Sony D8 camcorder with TBC.

The Meta background is not a replacement for me, as I'm not using Meta products.
As per https://www.facebook.com/sound/collection/terms:
"Meta hereby grants you a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use the SC Audio Content for commercial or non-commercial purposes in content you create, upload, and distribute on the Meta Company Products (including through links to the Meta Company Products embedded in third party sites) only. You may not perform, distribute, make available or otherwise use the SC Audio Content separately from the Meta Company Products."

I'm not happy overall about these changes.

Oh wow, this is a massive no no from me. I couldnt work out why the music had dissapeared either but now I know. Meta? Jesus thanks CL. Sub for years, this might just force a move elsewhere. Not that they give a sh*t. They know they will lose some subs over this but no biggie. Highly dissapointed.

Looking at Epidemic Sound, I see their Personal Plan for $120 for the year. (They advertise it as $10/month but is billed annually.) Would this + PD subscription still be cheaper than any other video editor/background music combo? Looking for alternatives now...

Good question. Let us know your decision and choice of services. I'm interested in it. Thanks!

I'm liking what I'm seeing at Epidemic Sound. I signed up for one year. (First month free so technically 13 months?) The free Shutterstock library that came with PD has some good artists (Black Rhomb, Arthur Basov, Nick Petrov, Mocha Music, etc. were my go-to) but I think Epidemic Sound has much richer and varied selection and the music there on average I'd say has more depth than what I've found on Shutterstock. (Sorry--I'm not a professional musician so I don't know if I'm using the right terminology...) I don't know if it would result to more views but I think music from ES will elevate my videos to another level.

I'm staying with PD (for now, anyway) as Adobe Premiere Pro is pricey at $240 per year. So far, my video-editing needs (effects, transitions, titles, video overlays) are being met by PD. But regarding color-grading, I'm still not very good at it so I don't know if it's me or if Adobe Premiere Pro or others will do a better job.

So I'm set for now.
