batch capturing not working

Ok, I assume batch capturing my video makes it easier to work with different scene clips? I can't get this batch capturing to work correctly at all! First, I don't like how you have to manually rewind the camcorder...Microsoft's simple movie editor took control for you. I select auto batch capture after I've rewinded the tape....it quickly scans the tape and establishes clips.....first thing I noticed is that my first scene is completely missing! Granted it's only about 20 seconds of video, but I still want it.....second....after I've done the quick scan and move on to step two....it appears I have to rewind the tape again? I tried this, and with the camera plugged in, the rewind process stops at every scene....which is taking forever! So I ended up just unplugging the camcorder to fast rewind back to the beggining. Plug camcorder back in. Then, I hit start again to capture the actual scenes, and my camcorder does nothing! It doesn't start playing so it can record the scenes. What am I doing so wrong? Is there a way just to capture the video all in one shot, and still be able to see the scenes broken down without batch capturing?

Nobody has answered because you do not give any information about your system, what camera are even the steps you took.

I have had no problems in Powerdirector Capture. So I have no idea what you are doing. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Ok Carl,
Sony DCR-HC52 MiniDV camcorder. Athlon 4000 processor, 1.63 GB ram...onboard graphics and sound card.
Trying to batch capture my video from New York....First off, I don't like how Cyberlink won't take control of the camera and automatically rewind it like Microsoft's simple movie editor will do. I would think a more powerful software program would do this as well. I then have it do it's quick scan where it will recognize all the scenes...

1.First puzzling thing I notice is that it won't capture my very first clip....it's like it won't let the tape start at the absolute beginning. It seems to want to leave this 10-20 second gap before it will start capturing the first scene, which if it does this then it is missing one of my clips I want to capture.

..I chose to leave all the clips checked as I want to capture them all after it does its quick scan.

1. Then, unless I unhook the camcorder from the computer, I can't even rewind the tape without it stopping at every scene....which takes forever when you have 60+ different scenes!

2. I then notice that once I go to start the actual capture process....nothing will happen....the tape on the camcorder won't start playing....the software just does nothing as well.

OK, I assume that you have a 1394 (firewire) connection from the Sony DCR-HC52 MiniDV camcorder to your computer.

That is a area that I have no experience with.

Is it possible for you to start the recording in Powerdirector capture, then manually press the play button on the camera and capure the entire 60+ scenes.

You may have to turn of the scene detection in Powerdirector. Directors chair, Edit, preferences (Alt+C), Capture tab under auto scene detection. tick do not detect.

Have you checked the DV parmeters (Button) on Capture tab of preferences?

I can see where some to the parmeters could cause you to lose the first few seconds of the capture. The default setting is wait 2 seconds before starting to capture. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

yes, I have seen this video and have followed the steps...the only thing I didn't do was "merge" before trying to capture...is this a necessary step?
