power director 12 no sound

Hi im new to this. i bought a vhs to dvd converter. has power director 12 that came with it . my problem is i can capture fine but after i trim and produce the video to the mpeg-2 i lose sound on the produced video clip in the powerdirector 12 program. but it plays fine in other programs. i can produce it in other formats like avi mpeg-4 then the sound will work in the program. only mpeg-2 wont, i plan to burn them to disc so i was reading that mpeg-2 format was the best to use. i know vhs isnt great quality but i dont want to lose what little quality i have.i would appreciate any help. thank you.

The retail version of PD12 is not compatible with Windows 10. The device manufacturer has a patch to make it fully compatible. Have you installed it? See this link for details: https://www.dmmdownload.com/downloads/CURRENT/PVR/VC500%20Trouble%20Shooting.pdf .

Thank you. that is the file i installed if that is the patch you are talking about. its the full program, and i still have no sound after i produce to mpeg-2. cyberlink support said 12 isnt compatible with windows 11 and that i need to upgrade to 365 that i cant justify for how much i will use it.

Windows 11 has the free video editors like Clipchamp and Photos. There are tons of free video editors that you can use. You could produce those files to a different format and use the current CyberLink Power2Go to create your video DVD from those produced files which is free to use for 30 days.

Thanks again for trying to help. I'm looking into doing something like that now, different editors or dvd menu makers. I can produce in cyberlink 12 anything but the mepeg-2 it will work with mepeg-4 avi, wmv, h.264 they all work. i just dont know if i will lose what little vidio quality i have. like i said i'm new to this stuff just want to put some old family vhs to dvd.I was just hoping there was a fix so use just 1 program.
