Hi,

Please can someone review the below logs and tell me what is wrong? I am trying to burn some files onto a Verbatim 100GB BDXL M-DISC (triple layer?) and it has failed after getting a third of the way through with the error 0xeb020b88. The drive is an Hitachi LG BU-40N running the latest firmware 1.04. OS is Windows 10 Pro.

Any help to resolve this would be much appricated. I need to find the root cause of the issue before trying again - the discs are costing me £15 a go!

Sid

A quick Google suggests that their is a problem with your optical drive:

https://www.cyberlink.com/support/faq-content.do?id=7827

https://www.fixya.com/support/t4453488-burning_fail_errcode_0xeb020b88

You can try seeing if there is a firmware update for your drive. If that doesn't work, suggest contacting the drive manufacturer for technical support, i.e. not a software issue.

I see illegal requests and read errors on occasion when using imgburn when using one of my external ssd disconnects and reconnects periodically for no apparent reason. When burning from this particle one, I now copy all the relevant files to an internal drive temporarily for burning to avoid making more coasters..

Thank you for your responses.

Note the drive is new and the firmware v1.04 is the latest one released for it. Just before I had this issue, I burnt a 25GB BD M-DISC without any trouble, so it would seem the drive is functioning okay.

With regards to the data, I also copied it from the external usb drive to the local SSD in the machine prior to burning.

Any other suggetions on what could be wrong?

Sid

That Power2Go8 is 10 years old and the latest updates is build 2126b according to this software update page if you pursue it: https://www.cyberlink.com/support/index.html . It does not match what you have so you should try to update it unless you got the free oem or giveaway version that has limitations.

Imgburn, the software I am using, was created before BDXL or M-Disc were popular. I would suggest that you obtain or purchase the full version, not limited versions of other available software to burn these discs so you have a better chance of being successful on these expensive discs.

According to this site, Windows 10 was released in 2015: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_10_(original_release) . That Power2Go8 was released in 2012 so it is not compatible with Windows 10.
