Hi,
I have the same problem. Most of the times, it hangs in the firsts 10 minutes, with the log you pasted. IF you don't touch anyting, it will continue about one minute after (of course, it continues as if the software had no problems, so you have lost this minute of video), and no more hangs until the end of the movie.

For me, this happens for versions from 7.0 to 7.3, on both DVDs and HD-DVDs. It happened on WinXP, too...

@JJ : this patch is for non-Ultra versions, as described in the page you linked.

Cyberlink, can you help us, PLEASE?

Installed the latest patch for ultra: http://www.cyberlink.com/multi/download/patches_112_ENU.html

Now powerdvd dosent close on me. Instead it hangs sometimes when playing dvds. I can watch a dvd for 10 minutes then suddenly powerdvd stops playing the video and the audio sutters. Then after maybe 20 seconds or so it continues where it left of. lol

This is worse than powerdvd closing. If I have high audio on when this happens im risking damage to expensive tannoy eyris surround system.

My speakers costs 4000 USD and i really cant have this software risking my speakers if it stops in a high sound place on a dvd and starts stuttering for 20 seconds.

Common can you please make a working software. I see nero has come out with a plugin for 25 usd who can do hd-dvd and bluray. Anyone tested it? INCREDIBLE tests: PowerDVD (tested with the latest patch too, v7.3.2723), stops responding after about 7 to 10 minutes on : DVD, HD-DVD and AUDIO CDs (yes !!!). How could I believe that ?!

PLEASE, Cyberlink, fix that!!
Tested on Vista 32bits

This is a newer version than 2605n: http://download.cyberlink.com/ftpdload/patch/powerdvd/upgradetov2/DVD070301-04/PowerDVD_Ultra.exe

I think its 2723.

You need to have powerdvd ultra installed and activated ofc. You also need to activate again after installation.

Havent tested it yet. But have installed it. AMP: Hegel H100, DAC: Hegel HD2, Speakers: Tannoy Revolution Signature DC6T, TV: Samsung PS63C7705 (pn63c8000) 63", HTPC: NVIDIA GTX 680, Windows 7 SP1 x64 with blu-ray

Unfortunatly, the issue stil exists even with this new build.
It seems that this problem occurs after 7 minutes of play, it doesn't matter if you don't play the movie from the start...

How about try to use the old graphics chip driver?
Try to use old ATI Catalyst 7.3 driver.
When ATI or nvidia release new driver, I think CL need some time to test these latest drivers.

A DVD playback software that can't play DVDs, they should've fixed this issue by now.
No wonder there's no trial available for this version, no one would buyit if there was

Try to check or change the IDE cable or SATA cable?
Probably hardware is a issue....

I can't imagine that people who have the same problem have the same hardware issue (especially the ATA cable)...
I have tried on 2 drives: one in ATA and one in SATA. And, the problem does not appear with all discs...

After upgrading to the 2723 version I was able to watch the entire Pitch Black HD-DVD yesterday without a stop.

But I cant say for sure that it's fixed since i've only watched one movie. AMP: Hegel H100, DAC: Hegel HD2, Speakers: Tannoy Revolution Signature DC6T, TV: Samsung PS63C7705 (pn63c8000) 63", HTPC: NVIDIA GTX 680, Windows 7 SP1 x64 with blu-ray

If it was a hardware problem it would happen with WinDVD and WMP as well.
And it happens more or less in the same time for everyone (10 minutes -/+ after starting a movie), if it was a hardware problem it would be different for everyone
This is definately a software problem

Hello fellow beta buyers,

I too have had these problems since I upgraded from 7.2 to 7.3.

Does anyone know if another version of PowerDVD can coexist with ultra?

I have the same problem on Vista. All perfect on XP.
Maybe a problem about Vista power saving settings? For example the screensaver or the auto spin-off of the hard disks...
I can't try before next monday...
