Combine grayed-out

I hate to start a new topic on something which has probably been dealt with before, but since there is no way to search the forum, and the written documentation on this product is far and away the skimpiest, least helpful I have ever encountered, I have no choice.

I have selected two clips on the timeline. I right click in order to combine them. The menu comes up, but "combine" is grayed out, so I can't.

Does anybody know what's going on?

Thanks. M.

Combine should perhaps be better described as 're-combine'. It only works on adjacent clips that have been previously split, and (from memory) it removes some (maybe all??) post split editing parameters.

You are right again Adrian - don't you get tired of that?

Here's what the PD User's Guide says on page 47... interestingly, to get to page 47, all you need to do is type 57 in the "go to" window of the pdf file. Go figure.

Splitting a Clip
When a single media clip is selected on the timeline, click Split to separate it into two clips at the current position of the timeline slider. Use this feature to quickly remove unwanted portions of a clip or to insert color boards or other media.
Note: if required, select the two split portions, right-click and then select Combine to merge them back together.

Adrian - I think you're also right about the word "combine".

Cheers - Tony
