Bad product, worse customer support

This place is run by a bunch of drunken monkeys.

I purchased version 7 with my PC blu-ray player. It has an upgrade. Fine, so I upgrade to 7.3. Neither version works with W7, so I go to the site and it says I must upgrade to version 10.0. Fine. I pay the $30 to do so, but then that doesn't work. It says I must have version 8 or higher already installed on my PC. There was no indication earlier that this was the case. So their instructions are incomplete, directions are misleading. Meanwhile, I've paid for this product twice and it doesn't work.

I complained via customer support email that their instructions don't tell me that I must have version 8 to upgrade to version 10 and nothing now works. They tell me I must get a refund and buy yet another and more expensive version of their software. The link to processing a refund links to 'contact us'. Totally useless. A never ending circle of links that goes nowhere. Nice.

I've never had as frustrating an experience buying software, supposedly a simple process these days. Unfortunately, I may be stuck with Cyberlink. If anyone reads this, please tell me where I can get competitor products. I don't want to deal with these bunch of A-holes again - after I get my refund, of course.

I'd advise the same for anyone else too. If they don't invest in their customer support, they surely don't invest in quality software, etc.. the company is poorly managed and should fail. I intend to help make it so by taking my business elsewhere.

That is all.

Loren,

Sorry to hear of your problems, I've had 7.3 working with both Windows 7 32bit & 64bit. I've never had any issues with CS whether for a technical query, or obtaining a refund they can be sometimes be a littler slow they just need prodding. The website is pretty clear about which versions you can upgrade from.

For alternatives there are Corel's and Arcsoft's BR players, though they all have there issues. I've never got the last version of Corel BR+ to work with the RTM release of W7, it did work fine with the RC & beta releases.
